Dipped for some smelt (st clair river)

Dipped tonight 3/18/06, didnt get a single smelt in about and hour and a half. Caught 3 shad, and about 200 minnows. I tryed behind the gravel yards in Marine City. I was the only one out. I figured it was still to early, but today when I came in from my taking out my boat a guy stopped by and said he got 20 last night off the wall in Port Huron, so I thought I'd give it a shot. It should be happening soon. My fishfinder said the water was 37, need a few more warm days, and some rain. I need to some smelt to eat.

Ill give it a go next weekend again, see what happens.

Brian, been to PH off and on through out the week fishing the wall. Tried for smelt or anything that would hit. The man may have gotten 20 but I'm guessing he worked hard for them. Most I saw taken was 3 the other night. Pretty sparse for now . Good luck. It's always fun trying.
