Hello, I am new to this forum but have been a sportsman in Michigan for the past eight years. Since moving to this area, the only real fishing I have done that is not on a river is Sanford Lake. I have heard tales of big Northerns and Muskie and a few people whisper of good bass fishing. Anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to get started successfully fishing this impoundment?
Thanks in advance for any advice

Sanford lake to easy what are you looking to catch walleye, bass, pike or musky?BASS and pike throw a chartreuse colored spinner bait 1/4oz with a no. 4 gold willow leaf blade that will get you started for bass and pike and cast the edge's of shallow weed beds or rock drop off's fish the tabacco river where the rivers meet and fish in to the tabacco just throw the lure to the edge let it sink and reel it slow back to you, you will get smallmouth or a pike that's just one smiply way you can get them. walleyes fish the river bends down from the curtis bridge the first bend has a high bank alot of walleyes there openning day 1/4 oz jig head chartreuse or pink with a shinner minnow works well there try to jig along the out side bend use your trolling motor to slow you down the current is alittle fast there.just virtical jig and point there trolling motor in to the current and stay about 10 feet from the bank its deep that close like 10 to 12 ft deep good luck.you will have to go throw some small walleye the averg keeper there is 15 to 18 inches depending on the water temp when they spawned.thats the size I get there alot opening week.

If you're interested in Muskies, Michigan Muskie Alliance (the Michigan chapter of Muskies Inc) is starting a club up that way. Check out www.michiganmuskiealliance.org (http://www.michiganmuskiealliance.org) for more info.
