i am looking to get my little cousin (12) into to archery and bowhunting. his birthday is coming up and we wanted to stay in the less than $200 range. could anyone suggest a good model/make for this. I don't want to make the same mistake that i did by buying a bow that was not adequate for deer hunting to start of with. i am assuming a compound that can adjust from 30lbs to maybe 45 or 50 lbs. any help would be appreciated.

Check out the PSE Spyder. That's what I started off with. The weight can be adjusted, but I don't know how much. Should be around $200.00.

It all depends on the size of the kid. Look for a good bow shop and go let him try some different bows. Both my boys got PSE's to start. But I like my Darton. The older got a PSE nova I think. The younger a PSE spyder. Both have been very adjustable and very durable. My oldest got his first, and only, turkey with his. But a good bow shop can help alot with fit and feel. It is always fun to take them out to the 3-d range for the first time. Enjoy yourself. S

I bought my son a PSE also. There is a load of adjustment for growth and it is a well built bow.

If You Live In The Lapeer Area Try Going Over To Starlight Archery Range. My Dad Used To Work For Old Charlie Nichols (mr. Starlight) And Marilyn His Wife In The Old Days And What Ever They Sell You They Stand Behind 100+%. Whatever It Is, Bow Arrows They Make For You. I'm Sure His Son Is The Same As The Dad It's A Family Business For More Than 50 Years I Think. He'll Set You Up !

my son shoots a browning mircro midas. one of the nicest features on this particular bow is 10 inches of draw length adjustment without needing a bow press.
