Switched to carbon arrows a couple of years ago when I got my new bow.
One thing I noticed is that it's harder to get the feathers off of the carbons without having to scrape a little of the carbon material away in the process. This makes for a not so flat new surface to glue the new feathers to. I do use a rubbing alcohol after to thoroughly clean the area. I use a bitzenburger jig and love it. Just wish getting the old feathers off wasn't such a chore with the carbons.
How do you guys do this? I've been using an old "Dull" knife to gently scrape the glue away.

I use a sharp razor knife. On my hunting arrows I use wraps under the feathers. I was told Goat Tuff will bond to the carbor fibers.
Go to the hardware and get something stronger than rubbing alchohol

After removing the old feather. turn the arrow 180 deg in the fletching jig
then you will be able to put a new feather/vane's on a clean unused serface.

I just use a razor blade VERY gently. Then you can still take only one feather off if need be, put your nock end back in the jig and be pretty close to center (compared to other feathers). I change one feather on my arrows all the time, but if you need to do three, it doesn't matter if you change your nock positioning before putting it in the jig. Exception: If you get the flat surface (as mentioned in above post) after removing feathers. BUT, then you'll only get 1 or 2 refletches out of an arrow and it'll be junk.
Hope that makes sense.

I've got a 3 inch pocket knife with a serrated edge section. It fits the shaft perfectly at about a 20 degree angle. Then gentle pressure and a sharp edge, little bit of acetone and your good. I am trying out a debonder that I snagged at cabelas. It breaks down the glue quite well but it gums up the shaft and needs to be thouroughly cleaned with acetone after.

I have a Zip Strip, and it works great. I have accidentally gouged the carbon a few times, but I've done up a few dozen arrows so far, and it works great.

Thanks Fulldrw. I may want to get the "Zip Strip". I'll just be very careful.
