Hit the cross dyke today, caught well over 200 perch but ended up with 41 solid 8-11 inchers. Slip bobbers and minnows were the ticket(thanks to all those people who told me to use slip bobbers instead of spreaders), even worms tooks some nice fish though. On this day the perch seemed to be about half way up the dyke on the U.S side, just search for a school and sit on them all day.

This pic doesnt do the perch justice all of them are over 8, and many are over 9 with about 6 over 10.

Nice job on the fish...We could not get the perch going Sunday morning at the CD, but got into them at the FYC. Will be out Sat and Sun either at the CD or FYC. Slip bobbers are the way to go!

Good job! Looks like a few meals of great eating. How deep is it where you are fishing? Are you anchored or drifting thru the fishing spots? Never perch fished on the Detroit River and would like some help. Thanks. Wishing you all tigh lines and a limit of fun! Gene Wellman

For those that have been fishing with slip bobbers, how deep are you generally fishing them? How far off the bottom? Jig and a minnow, or just a minnow? Thanks. Slimshady

Where did you launch from? Did the water still look like gravy? Thanks for the picture. I can't wait till the end of the month and the Walleye are ready.:fish:

Just drift,, anchor in one hand, pole in the other. When you find 'em,, heave the anchor.

How far of a run is it from the Launch to Sugar Island? Can it be done in a 14-15' deep vee?

I do it in my 14'. Just know your boat and the water it will handle.
Interested in the water color, too. Hoping to get the new bow mount on the boat and do a shakedown cruise. If I can get my 2yo into some perchies, would be icing on the cake.

Went back out there today....nothing, and i doubt you will get into them for the next week with how muddy the water was. That north wind really muddied up the water, the CD has clearer water, but, it was even pretty muddy. Tried the CD, FYC, the HITW, nothing.

I think about 12-3, seen a few boats out.
BTW, we also have a 14' boat, do just fine, but, obviously checked the weather first. A north wind, though muddies up the water, doesn't chop up the water. A south wind REALLY chops up the water. The best wind i think would be a light West wind for the lower river.
Yeah, from the Metro park, to the Cross Dyke is right around 3 1/2 miles or so, it is a pretty smooth easy ride most days, just navigate your channels
