Roger, Simcoe website is www.fishinglakesimcoe.com. Check out the message board for info. regarding ice conditions and how they're doing on the fish. I had friends that were going this weekend but canceled because of poor ice conditions. Cooks Bay had about 5" of ice in the southern tip of the bay. Pefferlaw area, the hut operators were starting to put their huts out, not sure how far(??). Lake Couchiching, northern tip of Simcoe, had 3"-5" of ice but they got hit with alot of snow and now the ice is questionable. If you have problems with accessing the website let me know and I can pass along several phone #'s to hut operators and lodging facilities, which will give you a good report of the current conditions.

Roger, I had a couple of buddies go up this past weekend(jan 19,20). They stayed in Barrie, and fished Cooks bay. Between the two of them, they caught 45 keepers in a day and a half. (not bad, not great either) They were fishing in only 7-10 feet of water. They said it seemed like Cooks was frozen over from side to side at the southern end, 4-6 inches of ice.

I was planning on going last weekend too, but I've put it off till the first weekend in February, there should be enough ice by then. Knock on wood.

Good luck.
