I bought my first bass boat last summer and this is the first winter I have had it through. I was thinking about getting it back out on the water aruond the first of april for some panfishin. what i was wondering is if the temperatures dipped below freezing for a few days in april, would my boat be alright since it is no longer winterized? I just don't want to mess anything up by doing something i don't know about, but i really want to get on the water.

thanks

I pulled my Bass boat out last Sunday. Just make sure when you are done for the day and the boat is on the trailer to lower your motor all the way down to drain the water out. Other than that, drain Livewells, bildges, etc... and your fine.

they say to dump alittle bit of antifreeze in the bottom of your boat to keep the bilge or any water from freezing inside the boat.. and what he said!

Or just pull the drain plug when you take it out of the water. The water will find its way out when going down the road.

I would avoid using sub-systems that use water (i.e. baitwell/livewell pumps, etc...). Many of these pumps may not necessarily drain themselves right away. I had a washdown pump on my big boat that cracked a few years ago cause it wasnt blown out.

I would agree try not to use the livewell or other such pumps. ours to a a crap on us as well when it was not completely blown out. What can you do...you live and you learn...

I'd use RV antifreeze and not radiator antifreeze if you did that...

I've been told to bump the starter over in cold weather also. A lot of good tips here as usual.
