A couple weekends ago was our annual winter camp event so I thought I would post some pictures. We camped out in the snow in tents just like we would in the summer and we packed all our gear in as well. The snow was knee deep making snowshoes necessary if you wanted to walk any sort of distance.
My tent is the small one in the background next to my fish trap. I didn't make it out fishing as it was a 1000' walk through cedar swap to reach the lake...not any fun in knee deep snow.

Here's a picture of the kitchen. Most of the guys were using backpacking stoves with white gas. I used my trusty homemade alcohol stove (not pictured) made out of a Pepsi can and some aluminum heat tape.

It was a good time. You could hear the coyotes howling at night and the owls made their presence know as well. The weather was sunny and in the low 30's during the day and in the single digits at night. The worst part was getting dressed for bed at night and dressed for the day in the morning. There's nothing like jumping into a cold sleeping bag before going to bed but a couple of the solid fuel hand warmers in the bag keeps me warm most of the night.
