My wife and I and a friend and his wife are planning a june Pike trip to flethchers, Has anyone stayed there?, if so is it a good place to stay or is there somewhere else that would be better? Thanks in advance.

While I have never stayed at Jack's Landing, I've been there quite a few times, bass tournaments, restaurant, and more importantly "Pikers Cove" bar. Our group stays at Browns North Shore Resort or for those old-timers Charles Landing.

I would say Jack's is the nicest of all the landings on Flecthers. Are you camping, staying in the motel part, or in one of the cabins?

You should have a blast. Early June can still be pretty cold up there so dress for it.

For pike try what we call "Pike Alley". If you head towards the West part of the impoundment, look for a large barn on the shore (Lyon's landing I think). An alley say from 1000ft to 200 ft off that Western shore will produce big essox. Especailly casting black spinners. Make sure you retrive all they way to the boat. Often they'll hit right at the boat after following your lure.

It does get stumpy back there so use caution.

Good luck and have fun.:fish:

Marsh,

If want to target some bass and are willing to navigate through and fish in bascially a forest of stumps, head to the the farest Northwestern end of the Pond. Go in as far as you can or dare. There are some serious bucket mouth lunkers in there.

If you like perch, go South of "Pike Alley" (described before) into the sticks just before the Osprey nests. We couldn't keep them off our line using little Rooster tail in-line spinners.

Good luck and tight lines!

whatever you do, stop in the restaurant..leaf thru some of the old photo albums they have..see what the floodwaters used to look like a number of years back, you will hardly think it is the same body of water you see out the window.!

If your wife is a girlie girl such as mine, you might want to get one of the mobile homes that they offer. the cabins are pretty rustic. we reserved a cabin, and when my wife saw it she wasn't too enthused about staying in it, lucky for us one of the mobile homes was available for a little more $$. the cabins are great if it's just the guys. just a suggestion. hope ya have a great time, lots of nice fish in that lake.

If it is not multitudes of hammer handles, but the big girls you are after, head up to the deeper water right by the dam and work the old river channel all the way down to the second submerged railroad. That end is where I always end up fishing when I am at Fletchers so I just get a cabin at Paradise Lodge right next to the dam,The big pike will be in the deeper water in June. Have fun.

not sure if the picture is still there, but last time i was at paradise lodge my cuz and i hit the mother-load of BIG bluegill/sunfish. we were throwing top-waters for bass/pike and these suckers would slam 'em. so we used the top-waters for locaters and proceeded to put a whoopin' on 8-9 inch 'gills. we kept 20, but caught alot more than that. very tasty.

it was the second weekend in june and the weather was like 70 or so. if you go west along the same shore that paradise lodge is on, there is a point that sticks out into the lake. in the "cove" that the point makes with the shoreline is where we caught the gills.

good luck....be careful with the stumps....and don't throw any lure you are not willing to donate to the stumps/monster pike!!!

Thanks guys, lots of good advice. And yes, my wife is a girlie girl and we will probably be mobile homeing it, I fished there a few years ago at the end of April and pretty much got skunked, I think it was a bit to early. I know the water was cold..............I fell overboard.........damn stumps...........damn corrona.
