Boat shopping.Help!

I need some opinions. I can buy a new {2000 model} 14' deep sided,welded John boat for $1500 with about $125 worth of extras on it. A new model costs $1550 {another dealer}. Should I buy the old model or wait for the spring boat show in Grand Rapids. Do you guy's think I will make up the difference and then some on a show discount or do they not really discount them that much? There is another guy that wants the 2000 model but has not shown up with the money...yet.

I picked up a 14' jon boat at the boat show last year for under a grand. There are some good prices, just have to know what you're looking for.

If boat sales are like car sales, then it may be better to wait to see what is offered at the show.

The auto makers are running all sort of specials due to low sales, perhaps the boat dealers will do the same.

I would wait, unless you think the 2000 model is just too great of a deal to pass up.

You can find some real good deals at the boat shows...I just never have enough money at the time...

I bought a boat last year and it was a 16' Grizzley from D&R. They were having their annual boat show. The Grizzley is perfect for the river. I like the extra thickness in the hull, plus it is all welded.

How much was it? Did they discount it for the show? Was it deep sided {20" or more?}? How wide?

I don't use the boats for fishing but for duck hunting I find it hard to beat POLARKRAFT, they have been very good to me. They cost a little more than most but they are worth it. If you don't mind scratch and dents you may get a good deal now.
Look at hull design, ribbing, hull thickness, welding methods and transom structure and then make your pick. Shopping is fun, it doesn't cost anything. LOL

I would actually prefer to find a "scratch or dent" boat, but haven't heard of any like I'm looking for {Deep sided, modified-V, welded, 14',48" bottom}. I'm just going to bang it up in the river anyway.

I didnt get the deep boat but the mod V. I got it with the extra support in the back so you can run a 40 horse. I also bought a new 25 horse elec. start Mercury. The whole boat was about $5500 and that was new trailor, motor, and boat. The boat was I think $1500. It really is a perfect setup. The show didnt make it cheaper because it is direct factory cost.
