I'm looking to get a blind for this springs turkey hunt so I can take my 6 yr old daughter along... You guys have any ones to suggest??? Please spare the double bull blind recommendations unless your going buy it for me.. LOL Way to $$ for me... I looking at a little more than $150 to spend... Which are roomy enough for shooting a bow out of and allow 2 people in... Any info would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks..

Check out the Ameristep website - made in Michigan and very popular. I have a Roundhouse 360 which has plenty of room for 2 people and pulling a bow back. It can be found for around $150 or so on sale.

Don't waste your money on a cheap blind that will blow over in a wind storm or collaspe under snow. Get yerself a LUCKY'S Blind. They are made up in Ubly and are easy up and easy down. I have tried a lot of blinds and LUCKY'S is the best. Well that's just my opinion.

I have an Ameristep blind its big enough that my wife and I can both hunt turkey out of it. I dont know the exact model but I got it for under 100 on sale. I have hunted out of two different versions of it. In rain, sun and heavy snow and never had a problem.

I just received a new Ameristep doghouse blind from Wing Suppy. A great blind for the money. They are on sale for 54.95 if you buy on-line. The flyer they sent me had them on sale for 59.99.( plus shipping on both.) I have turkey hunted out of the doghouse blind with my dad for the last five years. Plenty of room for two chairs. I have a double bull that is nice when it is real windy but it not near as easy to haul around as the doghouse blind. It does have new tie downs for the window flaps. I used clothes pins on my old doghouse blind to keep the flaps from flopping. I just checked and they are still on sale. Might just get me another one.

I have a Hunter's Specialties 10-10 Hideout Blind. I had two in it NP.

It was cheap. This is my 3rd season with it. I like how eazy it folds up and stores away like a fold up camping chair.

It held up in temps down to 3 degrees and 14 inches of snow last Nov 17th. The zippers froze up but other then that. I was in the woods for 2 weeks day after day warm and dry.

I have the Ameristep Doghouse TSC and here is a photo from this past spring hunt. Bought it new the night before and only had about 1 hour use with it.

If you were referring to the Ameristep blind as cheap and will blow away and collapse in the snow, forget it! My Doghouse will hold up to all the elements, and yes it was cheap, as in less cost. Now that, my friends, is where it's at! Get a Doghouse!!!

I have several Ameristep blinds... Outhouse (2), Doghouse (2), Brickhouse(1).
The Outhouse needs to be 'tied' with the guy-ropes included, or it pops (sides move and and out) and wiggles all around in a light wind and really sags after getting wet. The Doghouse is better, and roomier, but still tends to 'roll' if not roped. The Brickhouse is great... tight walls don't move in the wind and it doesn't spook turkeys or deer the way the other two do. It has a different pole system (more like a double bull) than the other two. I got it on sale for $99.00 and now wish I'd bought two more at the time!! Next buy will be a doublebull... saw some on sale for $299 at one of the deer and turkey shows and if they'd had brown instead of green, I'd have bought it there. Or a Lucky's .... I've hunted out of one and it was GREAT.

Ameristep also offers a carbon model. I would make sure to get this particularly if you're going to throw it up for a little whitetail hunting.

Beg to differ, it isn't worth the extra weight or cost. Too many places for the scent to escape. Carbon doesn't vacuum the scent out of the air, it only works if the air has to go through the fabric to get to the outside. With carbon clothing, they seal around the cuffs and throat, so there is some benefit.

Getting back more on topic, I purchased a Yukon Dispatcher blind just after Christmas. I've used a Ameristep Penthouse for years, and it works, but tends to flop in a wind. The Dispatcher is a hub type blind and much sturdier. So far I like it, but haven't used it a whole lot.

I'd agree the carbon is a waste of money. I have a non-carbon doghouse and have had deer come within ten feet of it multiple times. Just use basic scent control and you will have no problem.

I'd also say that if you stake and guy it properly it will not blow away. I have left mine out before for a couple of months and it survived a lot of wind with no problem. If you leave it out for an extended period, be careful about snow accumulation. Too much heavy snow can break the fiberglass roof rods. Great blind for the Money.

Cabelas has the DogHouse on sale now. I think its $59. Most likely without TSC but from what I here its just a gimmic.
