Any word on the Detroit River? Have the Walleyes started yet? I'm thinking about going on Tuesday.

The surface temp was 37 degrees when I pulled wire on Friday Evening and Sunday Afternoon. This temp was taken in the middle of the river south and east of the stacks. According to my journal the surface temp on March 30th, 2005 was 36 degrees.
Surface temp was 42 degrees immediately within the discharge area and south along the west shore south of the edison stacks.
Were another 2 maybe 3 weeks before the good fishing starts...... Until then you will have to fish hard for a pre-spawn pig.....

Windnots, I'd stay home and sharpen my hooks. We should so much run off that the water will be silty. Dirty/stained and even real dirty I'd say go for it. With silty water you have to bump the walleye in the head. It can be done with a slow jig or handline but your chances are week this time of year. W/in a few weeks the walleye will be stacking in the Det river. You'll have a lot better chance of (bumping) one on the head with these water conditions. Good luck if you go. Watch the winds and prove us all wrong;)
