Anyone have any reports on ice/fishing in this area? I was on Vineyard last Friday, 3-5" depending on wherre you stepped out in front of the main access site. Only caught 1 crappie, had a pike break 14lb fireline missed another and that was it for 3+ hours of fishing. I've seen some quads and sleds on sand lake for the las t week + including this morning. On Tuesday I seen one shanty on Evans lake near the Islands. No idea on the ice conditions on any of these lakes since the last time out was on last Friday. Also heard Devils had approx. 5" last weekend for the tourney.
Any info would be appreciated....Jeff

I talked to a guy this morning who was headed out to Clark Lake, he said there was roughly 5-6" (his words not mine). Anyone else got some info? How about deep lake or even Baubese in Hillsdale County?
Anyone?????

Hey Jeff,
I have a friend that has a place on Deep Lake. He said that there is some shanties on the ice. Also, he said they were catching some decent perch. I've never fished this spot however, I am planning on giving it a try shortly. How about you, would you mine sharing any details on Deep Lake.

I never mind sharing info, if I did mind I would have never posted anything on here :-)
Deep Lake: I have fished this lake for the past 5 yrs. or so, it can be real tricky as far as the ice goes, I think it has a good number of springs and the depths change a lot due to some sunken islands, the geese are also notorious for hanging out on this lake. My best lusk ice fishing this lake is probably where 90% of the fisherman fish. Basically if you park at the DNR site you'll see a point sticking out into the lake. You need to walk around that point and there will be a small cove that ranges from 40+/- fow on the outskirts to 10+/- fow as you get into it. There is a few humps in this area that can produce. I normally use the really small (BB) type lures (purple or yellow) tipped with mousies or wigglers which seems to work for both the gills and perch. I've also had some luck on minnows for the perch and crappie. One thing I like about this lake is that they normally come in in pretty big schools and stay active for a good while. This lake is also good after dark!
Hope that helps,
Jeff
P.S. I may be heading there tomorrow, if not I'll probably be on vineyard. Again, watch the ice on deep, it really can be tricky.

fished wamplers this am. Ice was a good 7 inches, fishing was poor. Caught around 15, with only two being keepers, did lose a couple crappie at the hole. from what I heard from other guys, there was no one doing any good. Anyone doing good around here? I haven't heard much positive.

Fished Deep lake yesterday AM, ice in the "cove" was 3" tops. Fishing was very very slow. After such a non productive morning we decided to try vineyard for some Pike. Ice was 6" on Vineyard and the fishing sucked there too!

I was on Wamplers this morning as well. First time on the lake and didn't do that well. Me and a buddy caught about 40 perch, but only a handful worth keeping. Caught one nice crappie in deeper water (20') and a 19" bass. Nothing on tip ups. Anyone have any tips for fishing this lake, I may try it one evening this week?
