double trouble

this is the earliest i have ever been out. fished about 2-3 hours due to cold wind and non-cooperative fish ,but it was sure good to get the sea legs.we marked a lot of fish in deeper water ,specifically at 16 feet from celeron to the power plant. no bites ,but i'm still happy with the results. we did not expect any action so we were not disappointed.the water temp was 35 except in the warm water discharge. everyone else i talked to had the same result ,even the perch fisherman.guys were scattered in the dyke and arround the grose isle marina enterance. i would try the huron river mouth if you launch from erie metro. otherwise i would head to sterling and fish stony point. there is always a few 3-4 pounders just waiting for a meal.keep a close eye on the water temps and we're still avout 2 weeks away. as a side note, the water clarity was very good.i did not expect visibility to be 3 feet after all the rain we had. good luck dt

DT; I went out this morning also same place did not get much action. I think I got picked one time but that was it. Did not walley fish long. I only made three drifts from the discharge to the rocks. Picked some buddies up at the dock and went after a few pearch. We smacked em good!....3 limits, and thru back about 60 dinks. Will put up a new thread later with pics of fish. Well at least my fish. Oh yeah! What is up with all the dead shad?

Did you catch the perch at the docks??? We will be going for perch and pike tommarrow in the lower river, i would think the jumbos would be stacked in the ususal areas, since this is technecally ice out, even though there really wasn't any ice in the lower river this year.

You got it. The fish are stacked in the usual places. Humbug was slow. Did not fish it but talked to a few guys that were there. Unless they just did not want us in the action. Hard to tell, did not know them. We left right away. Today they wanted that minnow moving all the time. If you left it still they wouldn't hit it. When you pulled slow they would slam it. What a way to take the edge off the cabin feaver!

Cool, that is how they were in Febuary, you would move your bobber slowly, and they would hit. Any jumbos??? In Febuary, they were mostly around 9-10 inches, i thought by now the 12+ers would be in.
