Ice Flow In Gibralter/trenton

I would like to take my 7 yr. old son out and try some perch fishin sunday. Heard some rumors of heavy ice flow. Anybody know if its possible to launch at erie metro and safly get to the crossdyke or hole in the wall? If its to shady id rather wait a week or so to take my son, but he's chomping at the bit and id love to take him. Also i know a half a dozen or so spots down there but if anyone knows where theres some fish and can save us some time i would greatly appreciate it and WILL return the favor.

There was alot of ice flowing down the Trenton Channel when I was crossing the Toll Bridge yesterday. I have not taken a look yet today but, with the wind blowing out of the N and NNE like it is right now, plan on the ice getting pushed to the canadian side leaving the Trenton Channel relatively ice free.

Alot can happen in two days, I would anticipate the East Side of Grosse Ile, Ballards and Amherstburg Channels will hold alot of ice right now. If your taking your boy out I would not chance it. Drop the boat in at Lake Erie Metro and fish the Gibraltar Canals.

Boedy,I talked with a friend of mine that went for a boat ride this morning. The Trenton Channel was clean. I am not sure how long this will last though.

Sabikrig, do you live on G.I? Just curious since you mentioned the toll bridge. Have you said in prior posts that you had a Crestiner Sportsmen? If so, how did you like the boat and is it a 16 footer? If I am wrong, sorry for the post.
