Most people think of the Metroparks as a place to fish, swim or picnic. In fact, they run educational programs running from the production of maple sugar and syrup to other things. One is "Build a Bat House Day" on March 18 at Oakwoods Metropark near Flat Rock. Bats are good neighbors and eat mosquitoes and other bugs. Contact Oakwoods Metropark at (734) 782-3956 for registration and cost information.
Visit Lake Erie Metropark in Brownstown on March 19 with your family treasures for the Museum Road Show. Appraisers will be available to view your prized items and try to fill in the background and value of your items. Contact the park at (734) 379-5020 for hours and costs.
