Have never jigged from a boat in the saginaw. Is it the same as Detoit? I am going this weekend any advice on Jig collor and weight. Or should I just grab the Detroit gear, and hit it.

i'm in the opposite boat you are, we should trade trips. from what i've heard the saginaw is a lot slower compared to the D...... I would guess if you can jig the D you can probably handle it anywhere.....less snaggy up here too. I'd grab your gear and hit it. 3/8th jigs on the light days and 1/2oz on fast days.

After you get the hang of it you can fish a 3/8-oz in the Det. Was thinking just a 3/8-oz dark green, and yellow chart tipped Jig with minnow, and stinger. I am hearing orange / pink also?? will that cover it.

All of the above.....Saginaw is a walk in the park for boat control....if you can jig in 20 to 40 ft. in the detroit River, then it is no problem to jig 20 ft. max depth up there. Bright colors are always great up there, the water is always stained compared to the Detroit River. Rattles work great up there as well as Whisler Jigs, they have a hellicopter blade on them, made by Northland. Good luck, Theres where the next State Record Wallter is going to be caught, in my prediction.

Is it better to stay perfectly vertical here like detroit or should I hold the boat back a bit to let the current feed the jig down ahead of me?

Sure was busy on Sag river today. I had a nice view of the boaters as I went over Zilwaukee bridge. Packed in like sardines.:D
