I just ordered a Lund 16.6 Classic Sport from a dealer in Lapeer. Am I going to be sorry? I thought that it appeared to be much better built than the Starcrafts and the Bayliners. I have used several Lund boat on fishing trips in Canada and was impressed by their quality. Someone mentioned that the rivits are a problem. Can anyone provide any more details?

I looked at a 1650 classic at my dealer on saturday. Looked like a really sweet boat. Dont see how you could go wrong. I've always looked at Lund as being the leader of the industry in quality. Some people are saying otherwise however. I think you've got yourself a helluva rig.

That is what my impression is. I am a member at Lost Lake and I will definitely be bringing it up to try for walleyes this summer. Maybe we can hook up and you can show me where the fish are.

You can not go wrong with a LUND! I have a 19ft Fisherman and it's GREAT on Lake St. Clair and Hubbard Lake! The quality is there as well as a good ride in rough water. If ya fish Hubbard Lake try it at night long lining crank baits!

That's about what I thought. I really looking forward to fishing Hubbard this summer for walleye. I did pretty well this winter ice fishing and now I am bitten by the bug. Any advise re methods, times of day, baits etc would be appreciated.

Lund is top of the line and then I would say a startcraft is next you will be very happy with the boat..

i have looked and ridden them for years. their surface level quality can be a bit spotty but not nearly as bad a tracker or even starcraft. the ride and overall design is among the tops in the aluminum industry.their hulls are extremely solid and you feel very safe. they are still the premium boat builder with crestliner and alumacraft right up there.go for it.

careful perch guy! a 16.6 classic this year, next year you'll want bigger..having been spoiled by 2008 or 2009 you'll be buying a 2025 pro-v and pushing g.roach, g. parsons, m.martin off the pro circuit!

Thanks for the response. I went to the Detroit Bost Show and I looked at the Starcrafts, the Bayliners, the Bass Trackers and in my opinion, the Lunds were certainly the best.

Yea, I will just have to run the risk. I used to be a sailor and had three boats and every year I kept saying I got to have something bigger.

Bro-N-Law has one and I have been out in it on Sag. Bay Walleye Fishing. It's a nice boat, a little small for the Bay but if you pick the days it works. Good all around boat. He was trying to sell it. It's in great shape. I don't think you can go wrong with a Lund.

I bought one last year and love it....just wish it was a bit bigger (1775), but that wasn't available last year. The sport trac is really nice - but lund bends you over on the the parts - $30 for each accessory mount (made of plastic). I took mine out on Lk. Michigan last spring for browns/steelhead and it did great - the deep V really helps, but you still have to pick your days and watch the weather. I'm hoping to get out in the next couple of weeks to do it again. I found it to be the perfect size for trailering around the state and launching in tight spots...

Thanks for the information. Did you order Lund's bimini top? I want one for sure as I sun burn very badly but I understand that their bimini does not have side curtains. Did you get the 60 Merc 4 stroke? There has been a lot written about how bad the Merc Optimax is but I have not seen anything about the 4 strokes. I would love to have a larger boat but the 16.6 is about as big as I can fit in my garage.

I didn't get the bimini top - if I remember correctly it added approx. 2K to the price. I thought I'd save some money, but after last summer I sure found myself wishing I had gotten it. I'm trying to talk the wife into it, but it doesn't look good  - so I just have to be happy to have the boat. If you can swing it I would highly recommend it. I didn't get the 60 merc - just a 50 merc 2-stroke. Last year I found I couldn't get the 50 to troll lower than 3.2 mph (gps) - so I bought a Nissan 6hp 4-stroke from Cabelas for $650 this winter...I cannot wait to use it. I also replaced the lowrance x47 fishfinder that came with it.

This is the old argument of riveted vs. welded. Both have good and bad points, but I just bought an Alaskan, so I guess you and I are in the same boat...no pun intended :coolgleam

Got a Baron 2100 and love it. I don't think you'll regret your decision to buy Lund.

i bought a 17' Lund Angler SS 2 years ago and love it. perfect for the rivers and channels and she handles her own on the lake as well. i got caught in a nasty storm out at the dumping grounds 2 summers ago and had launched from crocker so it was a long hard ride back...she took a licking and kept on ticking!
the only thing i dont like about the boat is there is no passenger side console / windshield so anytime i have a fishing buddy w/ me they either freeze their butt off if its spring/fall or they get a mouth full bugs in the summer. hey at least i feed them and let them fish on my boat!
i am told after market consoles are available so i am looking into one.

Let me know if you find one - I've been looking for one, but haven't found any. I would love to add one to my boat.... But Lund wants approx. 1500 for one.... I'll make my own before I pay that much for one...

That is what I thought too. But I couldn't...I have witnesses! I started looking at getting a trolling plate, but then saw that motor on sale. I figured I could earn some brownie points by using it on my father-in-laws 14' boat in Iron Mountain and it beats trailering my boat all the way up there and back during the holidays.
