Well the last trip to Simcoe for the year, and finally got into some nicer fish. We fished NE corner of Snake, and caught some nice fish.....With a couple in the 13 inch jumbo class. Most were fat 9, 10, 11 inch fish, The bite both days where between 9 and 11 a.m. but managed to pull limits in 2 hours time. Throw backs were 1 for every 10 caught......Awsome...Was starting to loose confidence in the lake after the first trip up there in January. Jigging raps were the tickets, in my favorite Simcoe color White Trout in the #3, With clown coming in second in the small #2.
It just gets better from now till ice out, lots of ice in the area with trucks driving all over the place. So go getem BUCKET BUTTS.

Were headed to Simcoe this coming Sunday, if I might ask MushyI, where did you gain access or park, to fish the Snake Island area? If I remember, I think we used to park in a lot where they park cars in the summer when using the ferry to the island.

Island Grove Rd.!!!!! Any of the roads that lead down to Lake Dr., I beleive you are right, there is a large Parking lot that has a fence around it. We Parked on the ice....You guys should slam them, As its only get better from now on out. Dont lose confidence in that area, I did not have a fish in my bucket at 8:00 am, and then the Breakfast bell rings, and hold on....

I had the pleasure to fish with Mushy1 over the weekend in Simcoe and while he found the larger fish with the jiggin rap on the west side of Snake we lots of dinker doos on the east side...however three of us fished essentially the same holes on Sat pm and Sun am and kept approx 115 fish 7 - 12"ers amongst us. All came on minnows with dark green or chartruese moonglow teardrops but would hit anything. Started to hit Sun am with first minnow. Had to sift through them but made for constant action with predominantly male fish that we cleaned (80-85% male)! 20 FOW off SE lighthouse on Snake Island...headin' out for some crappie with BEN-NETT tomorrow eve! TIGHT LINES!!!

Hey Mushy1 & Duck Hunter Too....We had a good time up there. Woody and Shirley are great hosts. I'm not sure what you guys did down stairs but when I was leaving Sunday she was saying something about posting some rules on the wall down there....LOL....
After you guys left the ice Sunday the fishing just kept getting better and better. Ray put the aqua-view down and the schools of Perch were huge. I'm heading back up on the 18th and 19th for one last trip.

Hey Inseine, it was nice to meet you and look forward to some salmon slammin this spring / summer and fall!!! As far as I know we left the place in good order. Thanks to "Ed the Bat Dropper" and Mushy 1 for cleaning my trailer tires and fender off the snow drift! I know Shirley was miffed that some of the boys were smoking cigarettes!!?? However I did notice that the table next to the gas fireplace cracked right down the center?? I don't think it was like that when we arrived. Mushy 1, do you know how that happened to that table??

Well done everyone!!! I went out with a couple buddies last weekend to Simcoe. We tried between Georgina and Thor on Saturday and did not do so well. Sunday we went to the East side of Snake killed them on Spoons with Beeds and on Jigging Rapalas with red beeds. We did not use any bait. But we found that we caught the nicer fish on the spoons that we have. Caught a lot of small ones on the rapalas.... The spoons we used were Mcgathys spoons. Look them up they work really well wihout bait up their..... And the fishing is getting a lot better since the beginning of the year...... So good luck to all that is going to go up their....

Really, there is no reason to use bait.....They are either on or off......Only thing i catch with bait are dinks....Glad you found them, never put on a spoon all day, good luck with Raps all morning long....

5 of us fished the North east end of Snake on Sunday. 23-25' about 1/2 way between the island and the mainland. Early bite was on Hali's (green and gold with a red soft bead, gold and black rapala's in # 3, and a Simcoe Slammer available at the Selfridge Bait Store. Nice fish but they quit biting the artificials around noon. 2 groups of guys near us limited out early using minnows, and one of our guys also limited using plastic minnows (black and grey) on a white jig head. Ice was OK except for near shore. An island resident lost his dual wheel pickup, and his trailer full of household furniture and appliances when he broke through and sunk on the NW side of the island. On Saturday we fished out of Virginia and went to the North side of Georgina in 20-22 FOW. A large pressure crack ran from the island to shore and there were several places that had water on the other side. If I had just followed the old tracks of a quad that went across earlier I would had been really wet. We came back across the crack closer to the island and my buddy's quad broke through. Luckily it was only the rear end and he had enough forward motion so that the front wheels pulled him across. After the pounding rains yesterday and the 50 degree temperature I would be VERY CAREFUL out there until they get some colder weather. The access points near shore are getting broken up by the cars and trucks and are thawing from underneath.

I just got back from Simcoe yesterday, we fished off Sibbald Pt on Sunday afternoon and all day Monday, decided not to brave the high winds on Tuesday, and packed up and left. We got our fish in 32 ft of water, not huge but a solid 9 to 10 inch average. The weather was not real cooperative thick fog and rain made navigating pretty dicey, lots of people were getting lost, you wouldn't believe how many people were out there without a compass or GPS. The ice was holding up OK 15 to 17 inches but the shore lines were getting soft. Thanks to Shirley at Whipering Pines for her hospitality.
