CARBON!!!! aluminum bends easily and it can mess up the flight of the aroo...carbon wont bend and it is meant to last longer...altho carbon is more exspencive.... i prefer PSE CARbON FORCE

The best arrow is either carbon OR aluminum. It all comes down to which one flies best from your bow. They will both do the job, accuracy is the name of the game. Remember, aluminum arrows have been used for many years before the carbons came along. And they have accounted for many, many dead deer. If you hit him in the right spot, that buck won't care what it was that did him in. It's up to you to deliver.

I switched to carbons about 4-5 years ago. I dont think i will go back to Alum.

Carbon does not bend and if it dosent brake it can be shot over and over again. While elk hunitng I had to move a log that was in the way and since I was tired I did soemthing stupid and threw it on my bow which was quiver side up. The arrows were fine and not harmed so I could still hunt.

I also have tripped and slipped down hills with my bow (Im a clutz) and I dont have to worry about them bending. Which with alum. I used to have to get new arrows every year since they would get bent from some reason or another. Just shooting them alot they seem to bend. Alot of times after they go threw a deer they would be bent.

Carbons are also faster and penitrate better.

If your on a budget then buy alum I dont think the deer cares to much one way or the other.

One of the carbon arrow companies has some slow motion video, I think it is carbon express, that shows properly spined aluminum vs carbon shot from a bow. The arrow deflection of the alu clearly shows why you will get more consistant flight and better penatration from a carbon arrow.

I think with today's carbon arrows there is no question that they are superior to aluminum. You can go light for speed and a slight decrease in KE, or now even buy them to match weights of aluminum.
However, they are quite a bit more expensive then aluminum arrows and aluminum arrows perform just fine for most target and hunting situations. Call me old-fashioned, but I still like to use aluminum arrows.

I have taken 71 whitetail, 5 coyote, 1 partridge, several squirrel, and numerous other small game, all with aluminum arrows, and they are just as dead as they could ever be, had I been using carbon arrows .. However, just as I say that, I am also now going to shoot carbon arrows. More durable, faster in most cases which results in flatter trajetory and only slightly more expensive than the aluminum's that I have always shot. You can always teach an "old dog" new tricks. Sometimes it ain't easy though. don

Just wondering why you would need flatter trajectory with 71 whitetails under your belt?

I still prefer the Alums for fat shaft- line cutting indoor stuff myself.
Cheaper too.

I do prefer to hunt and 3D with Carbons.

Best of both worlds...ACC's

aluminum by far for spots. straighter and more consistant. Will work well for 3d also. The only thing you need worry about bending an arrow for 3d is smacking one off a tree or target and some one smacking your arrows.

Most any arrow made today will be better than the guy holding the bow... Find a place with a hooter shooter, get some arrows... sit back and get ready for a huge let down... You will very quickly realize how crappy you shoot. I'm back to my trusty 2315's after several years with the carbons...

No real reason to change skipper, aluminums have always performed excellent for me. I picked up a new Switchback XT a couple of weeks ago, which will probably be my last bow,as I am 56, but wanted to say I at least tried carbons. All of my hunting is treestand,so no need to shoot long ranges, but had an itch to try something new just to stay in the loop, I guess.

I switched to carbons to give it a try. Before doing so, I had trouble getting complete pass thru with my setup. Changing to Carbons, I lost about 1 ft/lb of KE, but have never not had an arrow break hide on both sides, even after hitting shoulder. Will never go back to aluminum.

Don, that makes perfect sense to me.

Pass-thru's aren't dependent on the arrow type so much as shot placement and to a lesser extent broadhead design. IMHO.
