anyone have any experience with barnes bullets in rifles.i've noticed alot of companies loading them and a lot of different bullet weight options.i've personally never shot them because people have told me they really foul up your barrel fast and it makes your gun hard to clean other than that i might have tried them.is this true?

I've used the 130gr. in my 270 on deer. I havn't shot enough of
them to tell if they foul anymore than regular bullets.

The 160gr barnes x are the only bullets i've shot from my Win mod 70 7mm mag. I used them in alaska twice and wyoming to shoot prarie dogs at 300 yards. When cleaning the gun i use some copper solvent and that takes care of fouling that you might get. They were recomended to me by a friend that was a pro guide in alaska. These were the bullets he used on trips to africa also.
If you can get them to shoot out of your gun, have at it, They do make one HELL of a mess out of the inside of your bore though. Start with a clean bore and make sure you clean after EVERY shooting session !!!! If you can get them to hit where you aim, they are a very good performing bullet on game.. If it where my choice I'd run with the Nosler Partition, the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw or the Swift A-Frame.. A WHOLE LOT LESS cleaning.... Trust me :D
I use the Barnes X bullets in all the calibers that I load for (223 to 458). I use no other bullet for hunting. Reason is- I have tried them all, and there is no other bullet that can compare in performance to the X. Penetration and expansion is always excellent.
The rumors about accuracy problems and copper fouling are just that- rumors. I load the X bullets in 15 different cartridges and never have had a problem with accuracy or copper fouling. The barrel must be clean before shooting them, because they will foul the barrel if there is fouling from jacketed bullets (harder) already in the bore. If you start with a clean barrel, and clean it regularly (as should be done anyway) you won't have any problems.
When the topic of X bullets is brought up- there are two groups of opinion on them. One is the people that love them and one is those that hate them. The people that love them are the ones that have used them and know how they perform.
