Hi all,
I am thinking of trying the Rifle River sometime next week. Is is even worth the trip? Anyone fishing it? If so, what type of tackle? I know no body will give away their spots, but where would be a decent access point?:help: Any help would be greatly appracaited. Thanks in advance. :fish:

Freebird, The rifle is my river. I flyfish and spinner fish it most of the summer spring and fall. Are you looking for steelhead or Rainbows/Browns smaller fish? The river is abundant of fish and boasts a pretty decent steelie run. Let me know I'm always looking for a fishing partner.

I would like to fish steel. I have cought them before but never from a river/stream. Rainbows or Browns I wouldnt mind fishing for. I mainly would like some info on access points or possible a general location. MarshEO1973, check out the PM I sent.

Go down the steps at access site across from Ogemaw lake on Rifle river trail and upstream as far as you care to walk. Lots of holes that won't disappoint you. The west branch dumps in just downstream and is a popular spot. This is a pretty common area and a public access, so it should be ok to post on here I hope:confused:

i believe the rifle has a flood warning on it right now, with more rain coming the next couple days you may want to postpone.

Im not planning on getting up there until sometime in April. I know most rivers in the state are muddy and very high right now. I was fishing the Huron River this weekend and its a mess.

Is the Rifle floatable with a drift boat under normal flows? If so, anyone willing to PM me what accesses can be floated? Thanks.

Under normal flows it is bump and scrape in a canoe. A drift with 2-3 guys and gear will be hard. Try the lower end from Greenwood area down usually the deeper water.
