want to hit the pere soon need a report on the ice flows as well as ice on the pere

Robby, on sat. there was flow ice at the mouth. By mon. it had cleared out. These observation were made while driving over the US23 bridge, can't tell you about the conditions on the pier. I may go to Oscoda tomorrow, if so I'll take a closer look.

I've been on the river all fall/winter, and the mouth has been pretty much open all season. I'd say it'll have flow ice in the mornings, but it's almost always clear by afternoon. Both piers are covered in ice, if your gonna be the first guy to chip out a concrete spot(someone always eventually does), be very careful! I'm thinking about hitting Singing tommorow, but might wander upto the Au Sable, just a half-***** trip tommorow, I'll post a report and conditions. Remember, the early fish are few and scattered, so use big, fresh, choker bags, I do very good on the big bags when it's the early season, and it's cold.

Oh your heading up on the 18? It should be alittle more consistent as far as ice-flows go, but then again, who know's. Last spring it stayed cold till the third week of March, and so did the fishing. The piers were terrible last spring, same with the salmon this fall, there was very sporadic pier fishing success, but every year is different. If we get a decent warm-up in the next couple week's, there will be high-water by then, and a few freshies heading up!

9am thurs. no flow ice ,west wind, low water,ice on the pier but fishable and not a soul fishing. There are no docks in the water at the launch and the ramps are iced up due to the parking lot thaw. Next week's temps. look better, that should help. Good luck guys!
