I am a grad student in a biology program at a Michigan university. For a project, I am supposed to turn in 5 mammal skulls or skins. It could be anything wild from squirrel to deer. I'm not a hunter and am having trouble finding good road kill. Can anyone help me out? I'd be willing to pay a reasonable price if you have something, but I don't want anyone to kill an animal on account of this, only if you already have something. Although I don't hunt myself I, of course, respect your right to do so. BTW I live in metro Detroit.

I have many deer skulls and some rabbit furs, their yours for the taking. Ask on the trapping forum, you could get plenty there too. You at MSU?

easy enough to find if you spend some time in the woods , which no doubt is the teachers intent.

to do the same thing for a vertebrates class in undergrad work at Ferris. Any mammal (non-domesticated) was OK. I remember using a mole, field mouse, fox, muskrat, and a weasel. Prof always kept what was turned in and had one heck of a collection at the time.

Hitcheman, I too live in Metro Detroit, I will be home next weekend if you are willing to drive out and pick them up. I can give you a couple of deer skulls, a coon, a muskrat, I have a bunch of stuff laying around....

I ask my students to do the same thing. Where are you located, Wayne State? I taught Mammalogy there once several years ago. I have a couple of uncleaned skulls and a bunch of whole small mammals (a few Big Brown bats, some red squirrels, a few voles). PM me if want any.

You guys need to get a clue, or go to college it is a common assignment. The kid is obviously not a hunter and you guys are not helping the cause by acting like a bunch of pumpkins.

You could look in the phone book under trappers. There maybe a nuicance (sp) trappers in your area that may have what your looking for for too.

From the postings here though you should have more then enough material to get you started and finished on your assignment with alittle running.

Good luck in your education.

I agree loking up some trappers and frinding some hunters that might have some good thing for your assignment but i also think you should just try going out to the woods and looking it might print a bigger and better picture for why you are doing this kind of assignment. because being out there in the freash air seeing the real meaning of life is what it is all about
and trust me if you look hard enough you will find some thing.

I agree with quincygsp. You should get out in the woods, but I have much of what you might be looking to find. I am sure your instructor is more concerned with the prepartion of the skull and the skin to learn proper museum techniques. PM me if you want some animals.

Hes pry affraid to post again after you guys gave him a lashing. Kind of sad to see hunters act this way.

I spend alot of time in the woods and you pry wont find a skull let alone 5 on a casual outing. I have found maybe 10-15 different types of skulls in 24+ years of hunting.

Try ebay they have all sorts of skulls on there for sale. :)
