Fished the upper Big Manistee today, from 8am-3-3:30pm. Caught a bunch of browns and skip steelhead, and lost a big, olive/red double stripe buck. All fish came on bobbers and spawn, fished brownie and steelhead roe, the buck came on steelhead. Only a few people fishing, not alot's been happening at Tippy, atleast that's what everyone was saying. I guess the lower river is fishing decent, mainly in boats. River was alot lower than last time we fished it(Jan. 30), had a very slight stain, and was running around 34 degrees, the late afternoon sun seemed to pick things up. All in all a pleasant day on the river, a couple more weeks, and the next good warm-up, things will start to happen all over.

Yeah, everybody up there is just waiting for that first spurt of chromies! I can just see it. That buck was a nice fight, I hooked him out of a deep, slow V-slot close to shore, and in two quick rips he was out to mid-river, and down! I could have done some things different fight-wise, but I had straight 4, to make the browns alittle more fun. The first push will hit Tippy very shortly, I guess below HB has been good lately, so they're coming.......:D
