That sucks! Ark Surplus is one of the few places I can go to find clothes to fit me. When are they finished? Did you get a date?

Even Smiley might find something to fit there!:evilsmile

I have bought alot of goodies from Arc over the years. Hunting boots, Camo, lots of great camping stuff. I purchased an eight man canvas hunting tent about 20 years ago it is still in great shape! They are located on Gratiot north of Metro Parkway (Sixteen mile) about one half mile on the south bound side.

Wow, that's a shocker. The place is usually busy, and has been a mainstay for the eastside sportsman for..... longer than I care to remember. I got my first wool hunting duds there in the days waaay before gore-tex. (How did we ever survive? LOL). I have purchased stuff there at least a couple of times a year for decades. I wonder why they are closing, I doubt Wally World or the Gander over on Hall Rd put them out.

That was my first job through high school. Haven't been back there for quite some time.
Summer was always fun because we would set up tents out on the front lawn. Getting paid to be outside! Sweet!

I didn't know Dave was still there. I heard him on 97.1 over the summer and he was saying he works someplace in Waterford. Maybe Jim is still there? He was the taller one, balding on top.

I may have to stop in just for old times sake.

According to a couple of guys over on another msg board he is closing because of competition from the InterNet on-line sales and because he sold the property.

They went to see the sale and talked to the owner. He told them that competition was cutting into the sales. Someone was buying the property to the south and made an offer for the Arc lot. The offer was to good to pass up so the place is closing.

This week everything remaining should be about 30% off. Most of the camping stuff is gone, a lot of the good boots in common sizes, and almost every duffel or carrying bag.

There still was a lot of Carharrt clothing and hunting coats and jackets and coveralls left when I was there last week.
