I want to replace an old arrow rest on an older Hoyt bow. What newer type of rest would you recommend. I am brand new to archery, and I want to here some brands and styles of rests from you guys so I have some ideas on what to look for.

For hunting, I like the Whisker Biscuit. It keeps your arrow from falling off the rest. You will have to refletch your arrows with Bohning Blazer vanes.
I used a Bo Doodle for years. I like that one too. I'd recommend either, but over-all i like the WB.

I had one installed on my bow last year. Best investment I ever made. Drop your arrow in and forget about it. It is where it needs to be when you need it.

What about the noise so many guys talk about?

What about the noise so many guys talk about?
Do a search and you'll find lots of discussion on this issue. There are several possible fixes that guys use to quiet the WB down, from smoothing out and waxing your arrows to lining the perimeter of the opening with cotton, and so on. Many swear by the WB for hunting, so the extra effort for noise control must be worth it for them.
Like so many things, you'll have to try different things to find what works for you. It seems to me that bowhunting and muzzloading have this in common - there are so many little things that have to come together at once for success, and experience is the best teacher. Good Luck!

Whenever I am asked this question I always respond by saying that the Silent Solution made by Tepper Innovations is the quietest rest on the market. If you are looking for a hunting rest you owe it to yourself to at least give it a look (assuming they are still in production?) I have had the same rest on my bow for about 7 years now without any problems, and haven't spooked one deer while drawing yet!

With the WB being noisy, it all depends on your arrow. Some make noise, others don't. I use the WB with Easton XX75's and have never had a noise issue. I shoot feathers, so there is also no issue with that either. It is by far the best hunting rest I have used in 40 years of bowhunting.

i have seen guys who shoot 70 yard with that thing no prob. WB is the only way to go in any condition! no noise no problems!

I had a WB installed last fall and I haven't noticed any unusual noise. I love mine. I don't know if arrows make a difference noise-wise, I shoot Gold Tip Xt's.

I would check out the fall away rests. I have the drop zone. It holds the arrow until you start to draw and then an arm lifts up the arrow, when you release the arm falls. Ive been shooting a bow for 30yrs its the most accurate rest i have ever used.
