I have the oppertunity to get a Extream Eagle bow made by C.P. Oneida at a reasonable price. Because the bow is so different I was wondering if anyone has used them and/or knows if it would be worth the money? Thanks

I always liked the looks and style of Onieda bows. But they seemed heavy and I never realy had any local shops that sold them so I never bought one. If I had a good local pro shop that would sell and work on one then I might consider one. I cant blame shops that dont like to work on something they dont sell.

The best shop around is in Marion.

Nothing beats going right to the manufacture and testing bows. You can't beat the service that the Pollington's offer.
I like the Black eagle.

I'm with you there. I always wanted one but no local shops carry them. Hog Wild is considering it but still haven't. My hunting land is near Marion but it is a long drive if you have to have work done on it. More than likely my next bow will probley be an Oneida.

My first bow was an Oneida that I bought in 1985. I shot that thing for years and loved it. I sold it to a guy in 1993 and he shot it up till 2000 when he finally retired it. I loved the bow and the style of it.

I sold my Aero Force last fall. I now have a Mathews. The Mathews is nice. I will be going back to Onieda with my next bow. The Aero Force is heavy and large. It is also fast and very smooth. I had the same Michigan autumn pattern like the one Twohats has in his photo. And in about ten seasons I never had any problems with my Onieda.

once you buy an onieda, you'll never go back to a "convetianal compound" agian. they are the smoothest drawing bows on the market, the only draw back is there length.
I own a Black Eagle and love it. I had a Martin Lynx before that and wasn't sure of getting the Oneida, but once I shot it and compared it to as many other bows as I could at the Sports Show in Lansing last year, I was convince it was the best bow out there.
I've shot the Extreme a couple time and it is very smooth and faster than the BE, but I can't afford the price at this time. Besides, the BE is doing me fine.
I don't think you would be sorry if you bought it.
For those who need a pro shop to service these bows, keep something in mind, these bows are very easy to work on yourself. I was intimidated by the looks of mine at first, but once I decided to dig into it, I found it to be very simple to work on.
I say go for it! You're buying one of the best, if not THE best, on the market.

Pollingtons will help you with anything you need. They tuned my bow in for me and everything. Excellent service and they are nice people. By far the smoothest bow I have shot and they are fast.

The ONLY problem or thing is see is the noise, they are or can be little on the loud side when shot.
This maybe just a tuning issue not sure. VERY FAST AND SMOOTH

A supertuning will go a long way to quite an Oneida, also keep in mind that until a short time ago Oneida's came with nothing as far as dampeners or sting bats/not one item anywhere, "NOTHING" at all, so like I said adding a few sting items and some limb savers here and there and the supertuning prosecess they will be as quite as anything outthere. For those of you that are going to ask what supertuning is go to the oneida site and look up the area for quiteing your bow. I have an oneida osprey that I use for bowfishing. It is by far the best bowfishing bow out there. It is acutally for sale if anyone is interested.
How does an oneida compare to Mathews? Speed ?

Pretty much the same...some slower some faster and vice versa. All depends on the models you compare.

I am guessing they can be as acurate depending on the shooter. I really liked mine. I wish I had never listned to the guys that said to stay away from oneida! Made in Michigan next day shipping within the state via ups. I like em!
Would my osprey shoot like their hunting models? (if I got it camo dipped of course) <--check the classifieds for pics

Ya need to take it to Mikie. He does some unbelievable stuff to them and he knows them inside and out. I've heard one he had tweaked doing close to 300fps. Fastest and quietest Oneida I'd ever heard.

Whats the maintenance like on Onieda's compared to a regular bow? String replacement, cables, lube, ect.?
mikieday
09-19-2006, 09:20 AM
the maintenance on the oneida requires that you lightly oil the pwr cable ..keep an eye out for strands breaking...make sure brace doesnt get to low as the string creeps because this will cause timing issues quick. (i know i shot oneidas for years) if you stay on top of all the tuning you shouldnt have any problems...check out th monster bow phoenix also..same type of design but no cams and a lever lever action which creates more power and the bow has FF cables and string...no cams, no steel cables...fast and quiet

Anybody ever use powdered graphite on their Oneida ?? I've got an AeroForce X80, and it has started squeaking like an old barn door upon draw. I tried silicone spray lube,to no avail. Thanks !!

I have to admit that I love those Oneidas. Had a Screaming Eagle many a year back and it killed many a good deer for me. I liked the recurve/compound concept and the thing shot like a dream. The only noise I heard from it was a pop, but by then the arrow had already hit its mark. Was pretty neat that you could unstring it with your ankle and a little bend from the top limb - no bow press needed. I have since passed it on to another (that loves it dearly) and set out on a quest for a newer bow, say 3 years ago. Funny thing is I damn near bought another Oneida - but instead opted for the Firestorm Lite. Just something about a short bow with light weight made it a great choice for some still hunting in the brushy areas or sitting in my treestand. No doubt you will be happy with the Onieda, as I feel it is still quite an outstanding bow.
