I've used the Montecs for a few years and have nothing but rave reviews for them. I stuck on iin a steel fence post about 3/4" and sharpened it back to brand new again. Great heads even if thety run $10/ea!!;)
I'm personally waiting on the new Magnus Snuffers that will be released soon. Very similar to the Montecs but with a less severe blade angle. http://www.magnusbroadheads.com/snuffers.html

Montec g5. If you do a search on this forum for that broadhead you will find many testimonials to it.

I've killed two deer with the Montec G-5's in the last two seasons. They fly true and just devastate on impact. I believe they are stainless steel, and they are very easy to re-sharpen on a flat stone. Good Luck!

I've seen the razorcaps. They look like a stretched out G5. Have'nt shot one so dont know howd they fly. I'd stick w/ montec till some more replys have been made on the razor cuts.

It looks like you are searching for a 3 blade cut on impact broadhead. How did you end up asking about the Montec and Razorcap and not others like the Snuffers or Sonics? Just curious if they had been eliminated from your search for any particular reason.
I've used the Magnus Snuffers for several years now. The only complaint I have with them is that getting them mounted on the insert so that they spin perfectly takes a long time and is very difficult, some you just can't get right. I'm running low on them, and I too am looking at the 3 blade cut on impact heads that are out there.
I'm a little hesitant about the new stainless snuffer only because when the company started selling the screw in version of the current head I thought my problem was solved. I purchased a package of them and found they had just haphazardly stuck the insert on the head. They were not even close to being aligned to spin. It will be interesting to see what the new head is like.
I have not heard anything bad about the Sonic's or Liberties by American Broadhead Co. I know it is a strange looking head and quite a different concept compared to others out there. They are about half the cost of the Montec's and have replacable blades like the Razorcap. Again I have not heard anything bad about them.
I think I am going to stay away from the Montec myself. Mostly due to the flight characteristics. Not that they are bad but they may leave a little to be desired. That is coming from accuracy tests I have seen or read. I,m sure that a well tunned bow with a good helical on the back of a well balanced arrow would put them in the boiler room. But that doesn't change the fact that in these tests with all other variables being the same the Montec would almost always come in last compared to many heads of many other styles. With that said I'm sure we will hear from some fans, as it seems to be a very popular broadhead. I wonder if it is only popular because it is a good looking head that flooded the market. A person couldn't walk into a proshop or outdoor store without seeing a big display of them, sometimes a whole endcap. I suppose it could have been demand that flooded the market.
Thanks for posting this thread I'll be watching it too, to see what people say about these Broadheads.

I would shoot the one that flew the best out of my set up tap. Pretty much any broadhead on the shelf will do the neccessary damage. Every year i mess around with the latest and greatest. I invariably end up shooting the most accurate head for my arrows. It's not the cheapest way to do it I know but I am all about accuracy/ confidence when I am up a tree. For the bear hunt in manitoba last spring and this fall's whitetail i went with Easton axis H.I.T arrows and Nap crossfires. Dropped a 250 lb bear in thirty yards. The crossfires were gimmicky but i tried them. They really do deliver field tip accuracy. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys, After reading an article about penetration, and here is a link to it, http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=124830&d=1139247772 I am convinced I want the cut on contact with laid back angled blades. I am looking for the most penetration. The Sonics, and even ones like Slick Tricks look like they may fly truer and I believe they would leave big blood trails, but I never got a complete pass through yet, (I haven't shot but 3 deer so far). So with that in mind I am looking into Montecs, Razercap, or even the Snuffers, depending which would fly most like the points.

I know you are looking at fixed blade broadheads but I just have to mention that if accuracy is a primary concern you may want to consider mechanicalls.I shoot the Tekans by G5 and love them.Talk about field point accuracy!Made my first bow kill last December using them, complete pass through,75 yard recovery(only single lunged her),only complaint that I have is the blood trail was not that great, however the Tekan II's have a little larger cutting diameter so maybe that will improve upon that problem.

I shot this buck with a severe quartering away angle. The arrow entered just in front of the left hip and continued through the entire body cavity, and finally exited just in front of the opposit shoulder. That is what sold me on the Montecs. I did however go to a heavier arrow also......Carbon Express Terminators with 2 gr. per inch weight tubes added for a total weight of around 560 grs. The setup is a bit slower, but I really feel that inside of 25 yards it really doesn't matter much. The heavier arrow also seems to make my bow shoot alot quieter. Hope this helps!
