Lake Nepessing

anyone know how the ice and the fishing is out on nepessing? is there any snowmobiles or quads out yet? Thanks

I was out last Wendsday and there were 8-9 inches of good ice. Haven't been out since after all this rain but I'm sure it will be good for Saturday. There were snowmobiles, atv's, and some motocross bikes out there on Wed. Caught about 20 dinky perch and that was it. Good luck

I was out there tuesday and the ice was pretty soft and around 8" thick. I only caught a couple tiny perch. The fishing in that lake is moderate at best.

how deep of water should i try?

All depends on what your going for. We were 4-500 yds out from the launch and that was only in about 12 ft at most. Thats the main spot everyone has been fishing in, mainly tip-ups for walleye and pike. According to the locals the crappies and bluegills have been steady and pike and walleye are heating up on tip-ups. Well hope that helps you out.........see ya in the morning.

By the way the deepest spot in that lake is no more than 30 ft.......if that is any help to you.

Me and my wife went out yesterday, ice is 8 inches and kinda slushy, pike were hitting awesome, i got sharked 8 times caught 4 all on tip-ups. My wife had a monster on, but her line wouldnt hold him. It was cold even in the shanty with the heater it was still cold! Good Luck

For anyone that doesn't know the lake - Don't get sucked in. The locals have lied for 20 years and the perch do not grow into keepers. I think more people will agree with me than bash me on this one.

That's the truth. Lake Nepessing isn't a sleeper lake by any means.

my dad and i haven't been out on lake nep this year but if i caught one single fish on that lake i would be satisfied.
