Trees & Shrubs from Morse Nursery
* Each tree species is containerized, meaning each individual tree or shrub will have a root-ball packed in soil, not bare root. This drastically improves survivability. You will see these trees grow in the first year!

Three Times a Charm Apple Trees- These apple trees are second to none for wildlife, especially the whitetail deer! We are offering the apple trees in a mix of varieties for pollination purposes and attractiveness to deer. Each variety is timed for early, mid or late fall fruit drop. This gets whitetails to come early and stay late on your property. Trees are grafted on M-7 and M-111 rootstocks. Without being too technical, these are the best rootstocks because of their hardiness for our climate and tolerance for a much wider range of soil conditions. These apple trees can produce fruit as soon as 2 years. If you are looking for a fruit tree, these are the ones! (Note: Apple trees are not sold individually because it takes more than one tree for pollination and fruiting to occur.)
M-7 rootstock, in #5 roottrapper container, 2-3 feet tall,
¼ - ½ inch caliper, 1-2 years old
3 Trees- $25.00
6 Trees- $46.00

M-111 rootstock, in #8 roottrapper container, 6-7 feet tall,
¾ - 1 inch caliper, 2-3 years old
3 Trees- $67.00
6 Trees- $130.00

Thicket Crabapple- This crabapple’s growth habit is more like a shrub than a tree. This characteristic is very unusual for a crab and is the reason we chose this species. The branches grow low to the ground making it easy for turkeys to reach the small apples. Excellent food for birds and, best of all, the low, thick growth is great cover for deer. Each tree will produce approximately 27 pounds of fruit a year. This would be a tree to plant around food plots to add a border or screen effect. The fruits persist until the following spring and are an important late season food source for a variety of species.
Seedling $3.00
1 Year $4.00
2 Year $12.00

Thicket Plum- This species is a multi-stemmed shrub or small tree that forms fantastic thickets. The plums are somewhat tart to humans but sweet enough that deer really love them. Fruits ripen in mid-summer. The plum grows excellent in well-drained soil areas. This would be a great choice for borders and screen plantings like the crabapple. Fast grower!
Seedling $3.00
2 Year $12.00
Trees & Shrubs from Morse Nursery cont.

Apache Blackberry- Whitetails love to eat blackberries! This shrub makes a great border shrub or cover plant with food! This is a thorn-less, erect growing, high quality and highly productive blackberry. Fruits are twice as large as some other erect blackberry cultivars, weighing 9.5 grams each on average. Fruit quality is excellent due to the excellent fertility of the flowers.

1 ½ Year $4.00

Red Mulberry- The fruits of this tree are green ripening to red and eventually turning black; relished by all birds. Many believe the red mulberry is the better tasting berry than the white strand. This is a very tough tree and can be planted most anywhere, but does like moist, fertile soil best. Mulberry is very pH tolerant and adaptable to a very wide range. Plant this tree as part of your complete wildlife habitat diversification plan.

2 Year $12.00

Hazelnut American/ Beak Mix- Hazelnut can develop thick stands providing good shelter and cover for animals. The nuts are preferred by pheasants, ruffed grouse, whitetails, quail, rabbits and turkeys. Nuts are high in nutritional value- 25% protein and 60% fat. These nuts are the same enjoyed by people over the holidays, only they’re smaller, have more oils and taste much better. This is another plant with two great attributes: food and cover. A homerun planting for your habitat!

1 Year $4.50

Callery Pear-Noted for its upright habit and small sized pears, the fruit is eaten by pheasants, turkey, rabbits, deer, grouse and many small birds. Fruit persists into the winter making this tree an all-important late season food source! Pears are among the best pollinators available. If you are planning on apples or already have a small apple plot, you should give this tree a try.

3 Year $12.00
Hybrid Oak Trees from Morse Nursery

Schuettes- This hybrid is a cross between Swamp White Oak and Bur Oak. What was very interesting about this find is that there were many very young acorn-bearing trees all around the parent tree. This suggests that the resulting seedlings all have a high degree of hybrid vigor, important when it comes to producing acorns at an early age. There are not too many swamp hybrid oaks to pick from much better than this one. If you have wet areas on your property, this is the oak you will want to plant. Additionally, this hybrid is excellent for all upland soils as well.
Seedling Select $4.00

Bodacious Bur- You have got to hear this! This parent tree produced 750 pounds of acorns in 2002, 550 pounds in 2003 and 1070 pounds in 2004. The branches drooped from the weight of the acorns. I have never seen anything like this Bur Oak for prolific acorn production. The biological vigor of this tree can only be explained by it being a naturally occurring hybrid. A Bur Oak crossed with a Swamp White Oak is referred to as a Schuettes Oak, and has been written about and well documented for their ability to produce acorns at an early age. Bur Oak Hybrids are excellent for wildlife out- plantings because of their ability to out-compete every grass and weed in any site, period! This is one competitive tree you will not need to pamper.
1 Year $8.00

Sargent Oak #7- This hybrid produces acorns every year, with heavy acorn crops on alternating years producing between 800 to 1,000 pounds. That’s right, up to ½ ton of acorns! As you might expect from a hybrid cross of two oaks in the White Oak family, the acorns are sweet and consumed by wildlife of all kinds, especially whitetails. The parent tree exhibits a very large acorn almost twice the size normally seen with this hybrid! A fantastic selection for feeding whitetails because the acorns are so large, the birds can't eat them. "No Competition"! If you’re serious about growing superior wildlife habitat, you need to include this in your selection of must-have oaks! Widely adaptable, but a good choice for dry, sandy or rocky sites.
Seedling Select $4.00

Sauls Oak- Naturally occurring hybrid cross between Chestnut Oak and White Oak. Sweet acorns result from the White Oak genes. Seedlings show some English Oak that will only make the acorns sweeter, larger and more reliable! The parent tree has produced acorns every year, with very heavy crops of over 500 to 1000 pounds on alternating years. Very fast growing and early (4 to 8 years) mast production possible. Bucks have been seen leaving their beds early to devour tasty acorns before the squirrels can get them. Preferring upland soils, these are not suited for wet sites.
1 Year $8.00
2 Year $14.00

White Pines from Musser Forests
Eastern White Pine- Michigan’s state tree! One of the best pines for cover, fast growth and browse. This tree supports over 60 different wildlife animals in one way or another. Our tree will grow this year. Most any white pines sold elsewhere may be cheaper, but survivability is 40% at best. These are quality trees that will survive!
2”-5” bare root seedlings 1-20 $1.00 each
21-100 $0.75 each
101+ $0.50 each

10”-24” bare root seedlings 1-20 $2.25 each
21-100 $1.90 each
101+ $1.50 each

6”-12” Containerized (potted) 1-99 $3.50
100+ $2.75

Whitetail Mineral
This is your chance to get a mineral product before it is released to the general public. And you can get it at a field tester’s price! This mineral supplement has been formulated with deer in mind. Other products on the market today are filled with excess salts and cheaper mineral products that deer do not need. This supplement has all of the high quality minerals that deer need to live highly productive lives. For does this means breeding, gestation and fawning. For bucks it is breeding, body weight and ANTLER growth. Many do not advertise the importance of does and minerals, but we believe this is 50% of your mineral program. At this price, it’s a great time to start a mineral program or improve an existing site(s) that’s been using an inferior mix. Call with any questions on this mineral blend- it works!50 lb. bag (2-3 month supply) $17.00
