I saw Dave on Monday he found out last week - I agree Dave is one of the best. I have purchased 3 bowsin the last 1 1/2 years - two for the kids
and one for my wife. Always had time and took time with you. He is 2 blocks from my house so I'll be in touch. He also said current discounts on arrows were 15% I did not check on bows.

Howdy-

Although I never purchased any archery stuff there, Ark was/is one of my favourite places on the East side.

Many's the day I spent just roaming through the aisles, checking out everything and imagining I owned a few of each....

Sorry to hear of it's demise; I'll have to try to get over there before it closes it's doors. :(

From what I hear the business is not closing because of bad / poor sales - business but because the land became to valuable. Owners were offered a cant refuse price for land & building. We have to wait to see what goes in
there.

My guesses:

Convenience store
Gas station
Cell phone store
Market
..or some other business of which there are dozens already being under-utilized....

Unfortunately that is the case! I will be doing more online shopping now.

"Unfortunately that is the case! I will be doing more online shopping now"

Last post was interesting because a lot of small retailers are having to deal with on-line shopping competition. Here's a tidbit of what a flyshop owner told me: a guy came in looking for rod & reel setup, the owner spent almost an hour going over rods & reels and fitting him with an outfit. Well the guy goes home goes on ther net finds the items for some less money and takes all of the gear back to the flyshop for a refund!
How can a guy make a buck like that? I know we all want to save money but it's really nice to be able to go into a place where you the owner by name & he knows you. Same with independant archery retailers. I live in Lincoln Park and I don't think there's any shops left nearby.

I usually don't do much shopping online, but I would rather shop online than give the buisness to shop's that I choose not to support. MJC is a shop that I don't support any longer. I just prefer to shop elsewhere. Jim is a very knowledgable person when it come's to "Mathew's".

Seems like every time you see a new building going up it is another D@#% pharmacy!

Don't blame you for wanting to go a place you like- for example in the 70's there was a bow shop in livonia called Mar-Lon. Though I went there to shoot their range I prefered the old Starlight in Warren and did most of my buying there. I was saying that small independents in a lot of sports are a dying breed because of costs & competition from huge retailers. The sheer buying power of big outfits like Cableas & Bass Pro are hurting the small guys. Fellow I mentioned his flyshop is in his hardware store. His hardware business has been suffering ever since a big Loews moved in about 10 miles away. People will drive a lot of extra miles to save.

Bad news indeed...

Dave is the man... That place moved some archery gear... And to do it out of an Army Navy storefront, without shooting lanes... I'd say it's a testament to his service...
