Hey guys, I'm looking for an inexpensive foam target to shoot broadheads. Do these foam targets hold up to carbon's + broadheads? Delta, McKenzie work good? Something inexpensive to shoot 50 + arrows. Thanks.

I bought the Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead Target for 39 bucks at Gander mountain.

I have shot it about 200 times last year and it has held up well so far and for that price I dont think it can beat. It stops the arrows and they pull easy too.

The ones with the layers of foam seem to fall apart fast at least the ones I have used.

I don't think there's any doubt that broadheads beat the crap out of a target - no matter what model you use!

I practice year round and start shooting BHs about Aug 1 and probably avg about 200-300 per week. I've had the original Block and now am using the Block 4x4 and I think both are very good targets (though expensive). The 4x4 does offer 4 sides so it will last longer - probably about 2 years for me then it gets turned over to the kids for pellet guns etc.

If you don't shoot much, then like Chuck said, go with the Yellow Jacket or something similar (even though Jimmy Houston plugs it! ).

You're going to think I'm a cheapskate (rightly so!) but I just use some of couch cushions. Just grab the cushions from an old sofa that's getting tossed, tape 2or 3 of 'em together and you're good to go. They get beat up, but who cares? Good luck, John-Ypsi

I think for the price the yellow jacket is the way to go.....for me anyway. I've had both the block and the yellow jacket and both are good targets. So it comes down to price.

Just don't shoot broadheads into a Block. It shreds them up pretty good.

If you are going to shoot broadheads into any target with todays modern bow speeds you are gonna tear them up sooner or later. You said 50 arrows. If you are shooting broadheads year round then the block will hold up better than most. If you only switch to broadheads a couple of weeks before season then the black hole will do just fine. I picked one up from dunhams last season for $30. I practice with practice tips and switch to broadheads a few weeks before season. This target is still useable for next season for me.

If you want the best, and incidentally the cheapest, then use a simple sand bank and cut some silhouettes out of cardboard. Just don't use too thick of cardboard else with a fast bow you might have some problems with the arrows, especially if you don't shoot them straight on.

Sand banks will not wear out and if they get spread out a little, a shovel will take care of the problem. Also, sand is cheap. Should you need a little, just come on over and you can have a big pickup load free of charge!

I purchased a Morrels Yellow jacket 2 years ago for my son and I. We have shot all summer the last 2 years and it is in excellent shape still. and for $40.00 you cant go wrong!!

I kind of lucked into in my mind a great target. There are a lot of carpet, and carpet padding MFG's around here. The padding MFG's take the scraps from the cutter, and somehow case them into a BIG (4.5' x 3.5' and about 2' thick) piece of heavy tan colored foam. I got one, spray painted the front black - and put 8 Bull's on it. Stops b-h's cold. Even works good for cross-bows. And it was free...Now thats worth saving up for!!!

Get a yellowjacket... Best bang for the buck... The Block works but falls apart really fast with broadheads... I had to take a torch to my Block several times to put it back together... Block for field tips and yellowjacket for broadheads... Good combo...

I think I will go with the Yellow Jacket for broadheads this year. Have a good one.
