Has anyone heard of this buck. I have no information other than "possible world record."

That is an exceptionally high scoring typical rack. Excellent symmetry & phenomenal tine length.

There have been a lot threads started on here that have referenced new world records, but have been deer that weren't even close.

It's very difficult to judge from a picture, but I'd say the only thing that puts this deer out of the running is he's a typical 10, and I think (I'm not certain) that the Hanson buck is a 12. As it is, that's a world class, very high scoring 10 point. Of course, whether it was shot fair chase or not is a completely different subject, which I don't know the answer to:) .

What a rack!

I think we may have just stumbled on how to grow big racks in Michigan. If you get rid of the body, everything a deer eats can be used to grow antlers.

From what I've read ths rack was put together by a taxidermist as a joke played on a friend. As soon as pictures hit the internet they acknowledged that it was a fake.

Its on the B&C website as a FAKE. It was never meant to make it around the email circuit!!

I see 12 points. but it makes sense its a fake. The small rack in the back ground was prolly caped and the skull plate removed to place this rack in for the photo.

comon now if that deer was real the coyotes would have got him with a rack that big.Imagine him runing threw the woods. And if it was real he would be killing other bucks when fighting and ripping out trees at a diameter of like a foot

Gee, you mean a taxidermist can build a fake rack that appears to be a world record. Golly, that is news to me!

Good thing they did not try to actually claim a world record with it, because it may have started a major controversy

I heard the hunter was the best hunter in the world who hunts in a little known garbage dump that's overlooked by most hunters and he hunts the dump because the deer can't smell him there. I also heard that he was just a misunderstood recluse who abhors publicity. That's why he released the photo in the first place. All misunderstood recluses release their pictures to the media. But once there was a media spotlight for releasing the picture to the media, the hunter quickly disposed of the body and now refuses to let anyone see the rack. That's why he also only took one photo of the new world record. Everyone knows that if you shoot a new world record, you only take one photo and never show the rack to anyone. That's just new world record media relations 101. I say it's real.

Also, notice the other rack in the back of the pickup. I wonder if that's the son of the new world record? Too bad they're wiping out those super genetics.

It is real.

And they aged it at only 21/2.:p

If that guy would have judged that buck by his body size and other features instead of just killing it for the horns we all would be shooting bucks like that, I am sure of it.

Oh, No, Not Another One January 9, 2006For nearly the tenth time this year, we have yet another rumor of yet another World's Record whitetail. This one looked pretty questionable from the word go. A loyal Trophy Watcher sent us the following:

"Just so you don’t need to spend too much time on this one, it’s a fake. The guy came forward and said the photo and deer are real but the horns were altered by a taxidermist.
Thanks again for all your work on the Trophy Watch section. It’s the first place I check when something sounds too good to be true."

o.k. got's this off the boone-crockett website. It's a fake!
