Did really well today, no big ones all good eaters, using light everything, chartruse tail pink heads 1/4 , they're holding in deep holes right now, those biggins should be following any time soon, hopefully before closing. What a beautiful day out today.

That's impressive. I walked down to the river today and went right back in the house. The water is still up to the bank by me. I can't imagine throwing a 1/4 oz jig in that current. There must be a ton of water upstream. I can't believe the levels aren't dropping yet. I can't even wade to my hole yet. The rain that we're getting today shouldn't help a whole lot. I am excited about the possibilities this year. It was this type of weather pattern 5 or 6 years ago that brought the fish up early and was the reason Flushing started having it's walleye festival. That has been a bust as far as the number of fish that have been caught, but maybe that will change this year. I remember fishing the Saginaw in February for a couple of years in a row from my boat. Back then the big controversy between fishermen was whether or not the big females that were being consistently caught should go back into the river. We haven't had to worry about that topic showing up the past few years. It could be fun this year.

I also went and looked at the river yesterday here in flushing, and it looks a little too high and dirty to bother. How far north were you fishing, I can't beleive you were able to use a 1/4 jig. But way to go.

Let's keep Our fingers crossed ! If this Winter stays headed the way it is, We could very well have another season like six Years ago. Now that would be fun ! That was the ONLY time in My life, that You could watch Walleyes Spawnning mid-day, and aggessive fish darn near take the rod out of Your hand on the hit :yikes: !!!!!! Sure would be nice, after trying to fish the FLOODS of the last few Years:fish2: . Bob

My nephew got 5 keepers on Thursday afternoon. 3/8 jigs worked the best for him.

sorry, it was a 3/8 we were fishing out by birch run and morseville roads. I usually fish with light jigs til the big ones come in.

Hit it today off Mt. Morris rd, fished about hour and a half, caught a sucker and lost one decent pike. No eyes were seen. Anybody else try lately.

I watch the levels every day or so. As soon as it drops another foot I'll be out.
