I'm just curious about what you all think of the different brands.

I personally like the Bridgers, but i have only been able to compare them to a friends Dukes.

I looked for a poll feature on the forum but couldn't locate one.

Z, depends on what i'm trapping. I own Bridger, BMI, Victor, Duke and Mongomery. For fox and coyote I like the Montgommery. for beaver I currently use the Bridgers, but I will probably go with the MB 750's next year and Belsile conni's. Coon and mink I really have no preference, but the Montie's are a little tougher to set on the water line. I use Victor #1 longsprings for rats and some victor #1 coils on mink. I took a beaver this year in a mink set with a #1 victor coil, imagine that. The trap design that I like the best for toughness and holding power would have to be the 1.5 Montgomery step in, round jaw. caught and held big male coyotes by the front and rear paw equaly as well without foot damage.

I believe most of mine are Victors. But back in the good ole days you could not beat a Blake & Lamb. I still have a few hanging in the shed.

Since this year was my first year of trapping. I have a selection of traps that's quite diverse. For foothold traps I own bridger, duke, victor, blake and lamb, and sleepy creek. I find that all of the traps do what i want them to do after i made some modifications. The only traps that im having trouble with are the victors, not by faulty design, they are just old traps with tired springs. it seems to me that the more expensive of a trap that i bought simply needed less modification.

I don't own or use any leg hold trap. As a matter of fact I do not think the sell leg hold traps. Did you mean foot hold traps?

Most of mine are Duke. I know they are not the best out there, but I have not had any problems with them. If I ever get the chance to put more time and effort into trapping, say if I win the Lotto and don't have to work a regular job, I would probably upgrade to Victors.

FB, Kind of depends on the trap size versus critter size doesn't it ;) Ever hear of a #3 jump/body grip trap? They work very well on pesky red squirrels:lol: JJ

LOL you know i meant foot hold, but on the topic i also have a few "ASS HOLD" traps that some stinkers have come out of. Bridger 165's are a little tall for a small stinker invading my fox sets :) .....got em right by the hind quarter.

Heck, I knew you were talking about footholds, but I really did set a #3 jump for a red squirrel that was theiving insulation from my attic. Worked like a charm! JJ
