ive got 10 acres in freesoil. i cut about a 100 ft circle out on a se facing slope. im not wnting to try and clear the stumps, not much time, and i dont really want to cut that much of a trail. what is the best minimal effort seed i can get? im not lazy i only get there 3-4 times a year. i should add,the land is mixed maple ,oak, poplar choke cherry and other shrubbery. i believe it was logged about 15-25 yrs. ago.

Ladino clover or field rye. Maybe 50-50. Spend some time preping the ground.

Has there been any preperation done to the ground? If so thats better, if not, as long as it isn't really heavy grassed already you can broadcast Clover on the snow and it will take root.
We did this a number of times in areas that were getting thin in our hay fields.

The more you put into something the better the results will be. If you have limited time make sure that you kill everthing growing soon after green up. Round Up is very user friendly plus it's inexpensive, generic Round Up is even cheaper. Wait a few weeks for regrowth and spray again. If there is any weed growth spray again in early August and plant the next day.

Here's a link to an article that should explain everything you need to do for a successful food plot. It's authored by Ed Spin on this site.
