An interesting story out of Lapeer. A Cooper's Hawk is living in the rafters at the Home Depot. It seems that he chased a sparrow into the building when one of the large delivery doors was open. Store officials said that there seem to be fewer sparrows in the building now since the hawk arrived. A DNR officer and a licensed bird rehabilitator have told the store officials to be patient and that it should be easier to get the hawk out of the building when he runs out of sparrows. I am not sure what he is doing for water. If there is a follow up article, I will pass along that info.

Trout,
Speaking of bird feeders, I'm not seeing nearly as many birds at my feeder as in the past. With no snow to speak of, I don't expect to see birds like I had last year, but I am seeing only a few juncos, blue jays, and chickadees. About you ? Hope you beat the bad habit.

According to the paper, the hawk has left the building and taken his business elsewhere.

I've seen quite a few sparrows inside of K-Mart in Portage. Strange to hear birds chirping while shopping. (With my hat on, of course.) :D
