Has anyone fished Hubbard Lake in Alcona County lately? How are the ice conditions? Any walleyes/perch?

News that I hear from Hubbard is fairly good Ice 6-8 inches but the fishing has been very slow. I havent been there myself but had some perch head buddies that get out alot. No news on the walleyes, sorry! I may hit the south end monday or tuesday next week. I will post my findings.

I get updates from a friend that fishes the lake pretty frequently. He only targets walleye, and it has been slow...very slow. I've got a cottage up there, and have been waiting for a decent report to head up.

Hey Eastbay Ed
Has your store reopened since the fire? The last I heard, you were not going to rebuild. Sure hope you did.

I am thinking about coming up Wednesday afternoon and fishing Thursday and Friday. Where would you suggest I fish - north end/southend? Is there enough ice to use a 4 wheeler?

Any help would be appreciated here. If I came up from Mikado, where would be the nearest/best baitshop ?
I've never ice fished Hubbard. Any advice on where to start? Also,I do not have a quad, so distance is a factor .Thanks much...Mark

Len and Laynes party store at the south end of the lake. He's the only baitshop on the southside. If you know where Mt. Maria is, its right around the corner from the old ski lodge

bg, len's place is on the south end take mt. maria to the first paved road on your right. the first road on your left when you go down the hill take a left. follow that to the end and turn right.
just got in from fishing this evening. we got one walleye and lost one and seen about a dozen flags from 3pm to dark. i got zip, but my dad had two flags landing one nice 3# eye and lost the other.

Really appreciate the info guys. I was up there many summers ago & I recall the ski hill.
If I stick to the south side,is it much of a hike to get into 'eyes ??
Thanx again...Mark

Thanks for the info. Is Lens the same place as the Sidedoor Bait Shop?

Yes, side door is the same place, he has a party store in the front. Go through the front door though in the party store, because the back door is usually locked in my experience. I haven't fished the south end in years, but to my knowledge they are out a little ways, a fourwheeler would be your best option if that is possible. Its sort of a big lake.
