What has the ice been looking like on the main lakes?

Portage lake is making ice, I hope to fish the cannels this weekend. checked it this morning and it's starting to thickin up. warm weather and rain forcasted for this weekend so I will play it by ear.

Ive been down with a bad case of the winter blues due to the serious lack
of ice lately.
I almost gave up on ice but its slowly coming back. I can't give an accurate report but I will state that I'll be on the ice somewhere in Livingston County this weekend.
Maybe we can get together somewhere if we can get Chad off his rear as well.
I'll PM Chad or give him a call about my plans.

I stand corrected.

I went out further today(toward the island) and there was about 5" solid maybe even six. if you are going out on Island lake please watch were you go. there are alot of springs out there. Inbetween the point(from the bay/boat launch) and the big island usually doesnt freeze that good it was the last to freeze this year. Were i fish(by some springs) is 3" and i went 50yards and it got 6".

I caught alot of fish today. mostly dinks tho.

I have a friend who lives in Livingston county and fished a small private lake.He said there was about 4-5 inches of ice and hammered some huge gills in the late afternoon early evening.Sorry i cant provide much more details on where it is.
