Try Tony's in Birch Run, they give you so much food, you'll probably have enough left overs for breakfast the next day.:)

The only caveat, IF you can make it to the next rest area (with the greasy screamers)

Whitehorse has an awesome breakfeast buffet, have it every year I go up. Not sure about lunch or dinner, but if they are half as good as breakfeast you'll be happy. Good atmosphere a family place for sure.

Linwood road exit east to Linwood. Restaurant is alittle north from the stop light at M 13 on your right hand side. Plenty of parking for what ya brung. They don't advertise it, but they have polish sausage on the breakfast menu.

:yeahthat: I'll second that. And if you forget anything, you can stop at Franks just down the road. They open at 5:30am on Sat.

Many of you probably didn't know that Tony's got in big trouble for reserving food to customers. Hence I don't eat there any longer.

On the other hand, at the the Birch Run Exit is the "EXIT" restaurant. Right a the top of the ramp when you get off (going north). Clean, pleasant and good food! They have a buffet on the weekends!
In Houghton Lake there are quite a few places. Coyles if you like buffet style food. B.R. Guest offa 18, Rebecca's on M-55, Shakers on M-55 all have great breakfasts! There's even a Mickey D's if your lookin for an egg-a-muffin! :yikes:
Here's a link to the HLCOC site that has more info: http://www.houghtonlakemichigan.net/

Well I don't think they do it anymore... being they got caught and nearly shut down.
But now you notice the portion sizes aren't so crazy like they were 15 years ago. ever wonder why?
But for HL, try Randy's Country Kitchen (2 locations in HL).

Is that the place down by Little Caesar's? I've often thought of going in there just because it looks like a mom and pop outfit and they are sometimes the best places to eat.

The location over offa 18 near Eastshore Dr (*Across from the "Family Bar") is now "B.R.Guest", dont know the name change of the one by Lyman's. They gotta different menu, different staff, different food. Its OK by most standards but it aint "Randy's"

Flint rd. between Houghton and Higgins is Ron's resteraunt.....some of the biggest and best Omlettes around!! I LOVE the Farmers omlette.....potatoes, Cheese and onions in the center....smothered in sausage gravy!!:corkysm55 ....and the best part is they have those insulated carafays of coffee they set on the table so you can refill your own cup as often as you want!!

Banditto; Family Bar does have good fish! As does Bumpers. But if you wanna real "Seafood Platter" treat its hands down at Maple Valley! ;)
I"ve been given a great deal of thought about this and the way I see it we're gonna need at least "two" M-S.com outings up at HL, one for fishing and one for eating & drinking! :yikes:
