Guys, regarding the ice conditions I have now been ice fishing Simcoe for 1 month. Most of the area's I'm working now are in 30-40' and we have a solid 12"+ of ice under us. Its the main lake (Laker and Whitefish grounds) that are still not safe.
If you have been wanting to come up but were unsure of the ice its all good in the traditional Perch grounds.
Take care and Good Fish'n.... Greg.

I just returned yesterday from Pt Bolster. The ice between Georgina, and Thorah is pretty good, up to 14". Past big shoal though caution is the word. There was a few people going out the ice rd past big shoal towards the whitefish grounds. We also spotted an area of open water off the north side of Georgina island. Stay inside the shoal, and you will have no worry. As for the fishing, I must say it appears that a large number of 6-8" perch have taken over. You might be able to pull a couple keepers out of every hole, but soon after the little ones will move in,and that is basicly all you can catch. You need to keep moving constantly if you want to get a limit. Next year we will have a s#@$load of perfect eaters out there. We covered alot of ice out there, and it is the same everwhere. A limit can be had, but it requires alot more effort than normal that is for sure.
