Is Bellaire frozen and has anyone fished it??

The North Arm is frozen and fairly safe, about 5-6 inches of ice.

Not much going on, a few small walleyes, pike, but Lake Bellaire's walleye fishery is way, way off from what it was years ago. Very rarely hear anything any more, on any given weekend day you'll see maybe 3-4 guys out there for a couple of hours at a stretch, that's it.

The fisheries there have deminished steadily for years. The fall started with the dive of smelt popuations. It still offers decent fishing. this was one of the lakes you could catch 12-13# walleye in the 70's and 80's. Lots of big lakers and splake. The walleye are smaller and the smallmouth bass fishing is still good.

It just seems like this is one lake that was forgotten.
