Fished a private lake by my house last night in northern oakland county, waterford. I brought 6 foot 2 by 4's so I could get out to ice, should of brought 12 footers. ice was 3-4 feet from shore, put the boards on shore other side on ice put one foot on board and they broke through the ice, had to walk out 2 feet into water then put the boards down and walked as fast as possible away from edge. Ice was in terrible shape, 2 weeks of warm weather killed it. 1-2 hits with spud and you were through.4-5 inches of rotten white ice.fished from 5-9 pm brought home 8 keepers 2 crappie 9" 6 gills one measured 9".rained for 2 hours out there came in wet as a dog. be careful out there if you dont have a spud don't go out. even if you have one you shouldn't go out but if you do watch out and bring a friend

i also fished two different private lakes in Oakland Co, thurs and friday

ice was in great shape...8" on one, 6" on the other

it depends on the alititude of the lake, the overall depths, and wether or not its well sheltered from the wind (ice forms sooner and stays longer)

both lakes are at about 1000-1060 feet, relatively shallow and are well protected

on Friday from 4pm to 9pm, between two of us, we caught two walleye (one 17", one 12"), 6 keeper perch and about 10 decent crappie
