Just wanted to ask if anyone has been fishing from the shore of the saginaw or tittabawassee lately? If so, how have you done and could you give an idea where to start out as I am use to being on the bay this time of year.(Dont know much about either as far as fishing them) I really need to get out fishing and would like to take my 10 and 7 yr old out this weekend but not sure where to go. Any info is much appreciated.

SNAPPY,
I'm not trying to be rude, but you do realize, that you are asking at the absolute worst possible time. With shore fishing far more limited than boat fishing, most people aren't gonna give you a good spot 3 days before the Shiver on the River starts. Other than posts on the standings, during the Shiver, the Saginaw and Tittabawasee won't get much discussion here.

Yea, I realize most people will tighter lipped at this time more than any other but thats ok. We will still go to the river even if we dont know where to go or start and we will have fun. But, I can garauntee that if I catch fish (its possible) and post a pic, everybody and their brother will wanna know where, when, how, color etc....Just trying to get a little advice before we go is all.

Snappy, you can go on the east side of the river by wickes park and fish all the way down to the turn around where the flag is and even further south to where the rivers come together. Also by gennesse street on the west side of the river by KFC. And on the west side all along where the rust steet ramp is down stream to the bridge, this can be a hot area right next to the bridge. There is actually alot of oportunities for shore fish along the river. Be carefull if you fish till dark around wickes park area, been alot of trouble around there lately.

Snappy.

If the river isn't to high, go to Immerman Park on M-47 and fish from the Gazebo canoe docks on the Tittabawassee. Theres a nice hole right out in front of and above the docks that I've caught many walleyes in in the past. Cast upstream with a jig head and minnow and hop it down as it drifts. Try the boat launch area as well, as it has a deep hole in front and upstream also. But as Mike said, it may be to high for any kind of technique. But the kids will be happy for a while just the same.:chillin:

Snappy, when fishing from shore (or from a boat for that matter) minnows are not a necessity when jig fishing. In fact, I never use minnows at all when fishing from shore. Just rigging your jigheads with different plastics will catch plenty of fish. I didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way who fishes with minnows. There is no doubt they work, but just stating that minnows are not a necessity to catching fish.

Thanks for all the tips guys. We will try everything possible when we get a chance. Hopefully the weather wont be too nasty and the waters settle for a while. Thanks again...SNAPPY

The Shiver is a bad time to get info on the river.
Hope you got some pointers from big boys cause they know what they are talking about.
Hats off to you guys that are willing to give this dad and his sons so info.
Good Luck
