Just got back from the Oscoda area this morning. Checked my "top secret" hole on the Ausable, and looks like there will be plenty of ice by this weekend. I think that I could have actually fished today but didnt have my gear, or the time.

Van Ettan Lake- had some shanties out already as well, and I heard some guys going a little further north to grand lake.

Tawas Bay- looks like it is a ways off but improving as it was 90% open on Friday, and the whole thing looked more like a slurpee this morning.

I will report ice conditions and try and get some pics posted after this coming weekends trip.

I got two dozen really nice size golden shiners in the cooler in the garage.... they are gonna get me a big pike in the morning!!!! Gills slabs perch are on the agenda for the rest of the day... good ice in the cuts and Im pumped...

Tawas Bay is a scary place. Guys fish on slush out there! I doubt it's even close to being safe yet! I found one lake out of seven thet had 3" of ice yesterday.
