I hope this link works.

The video is a few minutes long and it's all in Spanish. But don't worry about that.

P.S.
from the world book encyclopedia 1997 ed.

flyingfish is a type of fish that throws itself from the water with the motion of its strong tail. in the air, it glides by spreading its large fins, which act like wings/ body muscles and yail fin help the fish to turn in flight.the flight often covers 150 to 1000 feet (46 to 300 meters). flyingfih live in all warm seas. there are more than 50 species. the california flyingfish grows about 18 inches (46 centemeters) long. the sharp nose flyingfish lives off both coasts of tropical america. flyingfish are excellent food.

so i dont think thats what those were, it looked like they were on a river and the flight was short.

Ok, now this actually is REAL.

About 15 years ago Parents, girlfreind(now wife!) and I were all down in the Florida keys. We went out on a Party Boat out of Bud n Mary's. it was rougher then hell and not much fun, BUT...

there were flying fish gliding from wave top to wave top in the wind. it was dark, so you would watch the circle of light cast by the boat as we moved between spots and you would see these flying fish pop out of a wave, glide 10-20 feet, then land back in the water.

EXCEPT for the one that glided straight at the boat, smacked the wall next to my Mom's head, then bounced off her. We all saw it happen (except for my Mom) who FREAKED out! The boat's mate caming running when he heard the thud of the fish (it was only about 10 inches long) and all the laughing. The first thing he asks is "did you catch it, becuse its really good luck to catch a flying fish!"

I still grin remembering that....

I guess normally the flying fish jump and glide to excape predators. The mate didn't have a really good reason why they do it when its rough.
