No matter how hard I try, I always end up with residual rabbit fur on the meat after I clean a rabbit. Just when I'm ready to start cooking, I find more fur. What a pain.
Is there any trick you guys use? Ever use a flame?

Read that trick a while ago and we have been using it since. Works great for the ones stuck to the silver skin that are such a pain to get off of squirrel and rabbits.

Peel and gut your rabbits as soon as you shoot them. The fur comes right off while they're still warm. Leave the fur on 1 foot so CO's can I.D the critter.

I do that....still get fur on the carcass that's hard to remove.

You may want to try using a hide knife. They are flat at the tip and take off the fur leaving the entire hide whole. Then you gut the rabbit. Just a trick that I saw a trapper use once. I personally have never tried it.

Burn the hair off ? Yucckers. They do this in commercial butcher shops after skinning your deer.........stinks like hell , and I can't see how it wouldn't affect the taste of the meat.
I take the rabbit/squirrel and while running fast, cold water on it in the sink, scrape the meat with a parring knife. This will remove all the hair.
Done deal.

When it's warm I hose them down before skinning. Wet fur doesn't fly around.
When it's cold, I have a small gambrel and hold with one hand and skin with the other. Then when rinsing, I get rid of fat and hair with my fingers and as Thunderhead said.

I pull the slime/jelly stuff off while under running water during final cleaning. Gets all the hair too.
