Usually I wait until after the first of the year to go after coyotes, but with 2' of fresh snow on the ground it's too deep for hunting birds or squirrels with my dogs. So I'll dig out the snowshoes and the 22-250 and see if I can locate which swamp or marsh the coyotes are hunting in tomorrow morning. All the snow has probably kept their heads down for the past few day. But it's clearing up now and maybe they'll be on the hunt tonight.

Hope you get your limit.

What is the limit anyway?

There's no bag limit. I'll be happy just to get one to come in to the call. Mostly I'll do alot of walking and scouting the first time out. If I get any responses to the howler call, then I'll set up with distress calls.

Good luck JumpShootin',
Been waiting to go myself here in central Illinois but between the warm weather and no snow I've been waiting to see what the New Year brings.
So far in the area of Temps they are finally staying down. Now if we could get a little snow on the ground it would make it a hell of a lot easier to see them.
Want to try out my new Tweety and Thumper calls too. My parents leave up toward Houghton and they are buried with snow. Suppose to get another 10" tonight. - Askel-

We went last Thursday(west of Lansing) jumped coyotte 9.30 am and he was still running when I had to leave at 3.30pm. It ran one hound off laid down and rested so we turned two Black and Tan hounds (they were just pups) and never did catch up with it. Oh well there is allways next time. This yoe ran right across a guys deck to loose hounds. It also ran back and forth accross a major road lucky dogs didn't get hit by cars. No matter what people think of coyote they are a true big game animal.

On monday morning I'll be heading up towards Millington to try my luck on the coyotes in that area.Last year I had a couple of sightings while hunting them in Lapeer county but no shots. If I kill somthing I'll be sure to report back.

Went out hunting today and tryed a turkey decoy with a turkey in distress tape in my J.S. caller. No yotes but just before dark I had two fox come in. One walked up behind me and stood on a rock pile that was 2 ft from the tree I was agianst.I had no chance for a shot as I turned he fled into the woods.
WOW what a rush!
