AS many times as I've been accused of being KRAZY , I have NEVER been tempted to taste one of those RAZOR sharp trebles!
EVER!

Do you longline troll your X-raps, or just cast and retrieve them?

Let's just say that if I LL'd 'em , they'd be a LOT harder to "be tempted to taste it themselves, " and see what happens...

So you cast them then right? I was wondering if you had a dive curve for longlining them. I haven't found a precision trolling that has updated the X's yet.

It's a mortal sin to long line an x rap. Toss and twitch is the bomb.

I've never used one. But if there as good as you guys rave about, why couldn't they be longlined? Sag. Bay, LSC, Erie. You know more about them than I do. Is it possible for them to be trolled on boards (mast, off-shores?) or straight longline? How quickly do they dive? They don't seem to have a very big lip, it looks like you would have to let alot of line out if the fish were 15-25 down.

On average 4 to 6 feet. BUT they will call them up from a LONG way, trust me. 60 eyes in the freezer tell me twitchin is bitchin.

My post above somehow - I ommitted the link to Rapala's X-Raps...
There is a shockwave flash presentation that shows how to use one & they can be longlined but really are designed to be used as a twitchin' , b!tch!n' Jerk Bait

Thanks. When you first posted it, nothing there. I was confused what you were talking about. Your better off LL'ing LSC in the summertime, just trying to add to the arsenal. Some days, subtle cranks, other days, more action-vibration, somedays pullin' meat. ;) Trying to be proficient at em all. Thanks Robert.:grouphug:

I would think that you could troll em... they have a good wiggle to them... and the rattle really makes some comotion!! I plan on trying the trolling thing with them at Glen Lake this summer.... rattle baits seem to work well there early season... just look at my photo gallery... all but one of the BIG bass in there were caught on Glen Lake on or around opening day. All on rattle baits trolled 50-75' back.

Have you fished Glen? Been fishing it since I was old enough to walk. Know some good spots to troll and some good spots to cast. I've caught MANY mater angler sized smallies there. Biggest bass I ever caught came out of there, 25" largemouth. All early season fish though.
If you ever get up there, let me know when... maybe we can hook up and throw some X's!!!!

largemouth aye? i never caught many, or maybe any that i recall..used to get lots of smallies and perch with a few lakers and pike thrown in........but i imagine little glen has great habitat for bucketmouth breeding and growth...lol..haven't fished her much in recent years..how did the walleye plants go? did they ever take hold and become any kind of fishery?.....anymore we usually go to hamlin or leelanau when we get into that section of the state. I'll drop you a pm anytime i make it to your side of state , Waterfoul. I occasionally get to croton, gun, muskegon, tippy, cadillac etc... so little time..need to hook up with Kush, eyesforever and bluegill bob too.......

To troll them, trool 'em like a regular rapala. Put 3-1oz inlines about 6 ft in front of the lure and troll away. In erie we were running them about 50-60 ft back. Or you can run a leader off a bottom bouncer to get them down.

Yup... big ole bucket mouth! Caught on Little Glen. I mostly fish little because A) I've had good luck; B) that's the side my parent's place is on; C) my little trihull can get beat pretty hard on big Glen. I like the eastern shore of Big Glen for smallies.
As for the eye's... I know of NO ONE that has caught a single eye. I also don't see any information of eye stocking for the lake on the DNR site. Here is the 05 data and I don't see any eye stock numbers looking back 20 years:

yeah, coulda been one of those projects the DNR thought about or one that they abandoned after a year or so..lol...before the internet we had to get papers, word of mouth and such on things happening in the outdoors..so maybe the info was bad or confused..lol..or coulda been one of those 'private plants'..lmao..a local bait shop does it around jackson..they have planted eyes several times in wamplers, but I never hear or see anyone take an eye out!...Did you ever fish Sessions, near ionia? ..How bout hardy? have much luck there?

I've caught a carp , smallie, pike and walleye on my Xrap this winter. I tried fishing with fireline and momo. Mono seems to work best, that is to say nothing came the fireline.

For those of you who own some x-raps;
how is the lure tag attached to the lure?
is there some kind of oval split ring, a small wire, or is it tied directly around the neck of the treble?
